State of Mind Ⅱ 마음이 머무는 곳

색채, 질감, 빛의 교감 ● 채성숙 작가는 대상을 세밀하게 묘사하는 것 보다 캔버스 위의 전체적 분위기의 완성에 우선 순위를 두고 있다. 그래서 색채가 그의 기분과 감응을 표현하는 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 그가 정말로 표현하고 싶은 것은 채색된 표면 위를 덮는, 빛의 조각인게 아닐까. 계속 변화하는, 흐트러진 빛으로 둘러싸인 것 같은 느낌. 이것이 양모의 효과인 신비스럽게 부드럽고 따뜻하게 친밀한 분위기를 만들어 내었다. (2009년 베이징 금일미술관에서 개최한 작가의 개인전에 붙어 쓴 글) ■ 인희 아이리스 문

푸른 하늘을 날라온 빛. 개울가 버들개비에 맺혀 생명을 빚어낸다. / 우주로부터 스며든 소리. 차랑차랑 흐르는 개울물에 적시어 있다. / 물방울 하나가 떠나는 여행. 구비구비 달려가 다다른 대양. / 수만년을 돌고 돌면, 까마득히 돌다가 마침내 제자리. // 맑은 하늘에 눈 부신 햇살. 환하게 열려 대지를 비춘다. / 따뜻한 기운. 생명을 키워내고 부드럽게 감싸 안는다. / 산길을 돌면 탁 트인 자락에 마주친 에게해. / 연안에 점점이 흩어진 돌 섬. 초저녁 하늘에 길게 걸린 노을. // 소나무 울창한 산마루. 기슭에 내려 앉아 고즈늑한 마을이 된다. / 화톳불을 끼고 아랫목에 나란히 앉은 부부. 두런두런 이야기가 정겹다. / 길섶 발치에 이름 없는 들꽃. 밤이면 하늘에 올라 별이 된다. / 계절이 지나가는 길목 마다 향기 배인 색깔이 영근다. ■ 채성숙

Color, Material and Fragments of Light ● To the artist, Chae Soung-Sook, who prioritizes the achievement of the overall atmosphere rather than depicting details on the canvas surface, color plays an important role in rendering her mood and sensibility, but the element that she truly wants to depict seems to be the fragments of light over colored surface. There is this sense of besiegement of iridescent light over the painted canvas, creating a mysteriously soft and intimate atmosphere which is the effect of texture created by wool. Lights flown from the sky of cobalt blue give life to a pussy willow by the brook. / A sound passing through space melts in the sound of rushing water of stream. / A water-drop travels along valleys and fields, winding its way and runs to the ocean in the end; / Making its way around the globe, up and down, back and forth, it finally gets back to where it started in tens of thousand years // The brilliant sun shines in the blue sky open in the warm air down to the earth. / Full of vigor, breeding lives and embracing them softly. / The Agean Sea seen between the valleys, while walking on a mountain path. / Tiny rock islets sprinkled along the shore. A long crimson sunset hanging above the horizon. // Mountain ridge filled with pine trees. Down to its foot, a tranquil village below. / An old couple sit side by side, chatting amiably on the warm spot with a bonfire. / Nameless wild flowers shyly raising their heads on stone steps, / rising to the sky at night, become bright stars. / Every corner with seasons passing, colors full of fragrance grow ripe. ■ CHAESOUNGSOOK
