묘금도부귀도 Myogeumdo Buguido

형상이 아닌 내재된 의미로서의 富貴花 - 모란 ● 유기준의 작품에서 말하려는 꽃-모란의 실제는 무엇일까? "모란은 부귀 외에 장수, 공명, 평화를 뜻한다." 그리고 "중국에서는 예로부터 모란을 꽃 중의 제일이라고 하여 꽃의 왕 또는 꽃의 신으로, 또 부귀를 뜻하는 식물로서 부귀화(富貴花)라고도 부른다. 모란꽃에서는 보기와는 달리 향기가 나지 않는다."라는 의미일까? 유기준의 모란은 위에서 언급한 일반적인 의미 실제는 아니다. 모란의 형상은 있되 실제가 없는, 즉 모란을 보고 그 의미를 전달하려는 저의가 깔려있다. 이는 실제 없는 꽃(모란)에 실제 없는 바람(생각)이 불어 실체가 없는 변화를 만들어 낸다. 그것이 마음에 집적되어 형상을 이루고 재조정되어 보는 사람에게 사고의 변환을 요구하게 한다. 즉 모란을 보고 부귀를-돈을 많이 벌라고- 뜻하는 것이 아니라 주변의 사소하고 값어치가 없는 것들을 보고도 부귀를 누릴 수 있다는 깨달음의 질서를 요구하고 있는 것이다.

부귀화 즉 꽃은 왜 아름다운가? 그리고 꽃 중의 꽃은 왜 모란(부귀화)이라 하는가? 유기준의 화두이다. 유기준에게 꽃은 아름다운 것이 아니라 인간의 근본을 보는 것이다. 꽃은 혼자서 꽃잎을 떨어뜨리지 못하는 바보 꽃 일까? 꽃은 진다는 생각을 하지 않고 다시 꽃을 피운다는 하나의 순환의 과정으로 여기는 데, 진다라는 생각을 하는 것은 인간일 뿐이다. 부귀 즉 모란꽃은 지지도 피지도 않는다. 순환 할 따름이다. 그 깨달음의 끝에 초월적 지혜가 있다. 우리가 아름답다고 생각하는 부귀의 색은 여태까지 지구상에서 태어나 죽은 꽃의 시체를 자양으로 태어난다는 것이다. 그것은 형상으로서의 꽃이 아니라 우주의 꽃이기도 했으며, 인간의 본성을 자극하여 자연으로 귀의 시키려는 상생의 꽃이다. 문득 깨달음의 시각에서 보이는 지혜이기도 하다.

이런 측면에서 작품상에 나타나는 유기준의 모란꽃은 화엄(華嚴)의 중요사상인 일즉다, 다일즉(一卽多, 多一卽)의 사상이 구현된다. 이 화엄에서의 꽃은 아름다움의 대상으로서의 꽃이 아니다. 그 시각은 꽃의 질서에서 시작 된다. 흰색, 붉은 색, 노란색 모란꽃과 잎의 순서는 단순히 꽃을 보는 시각에서 재구성한 것이다. 이를 테면 꽃 속에 묻힌 자신의 시각으로 세상을 내다본다는 것이다. 형상을 형상으로만 보지 않는 그만의 시각, 이것이 깨달음이다. 현상을 관통하고 일깨워 주는 깨달음 인 것이다. 이러한 깨달음은 정교하고 세밀한 표현력이 뒷받침 되지 않고는 그 깨달음이 요연하다는 것은 자명한 사실이다. 그리고 그 깨달음은 자비로운 실천행으로 이어진다. 다양한 동물형상 즉 거북이, 말, 코끼리, 고양이, 돼지 등을 화면에 등장시켜 기복 왕생 할 수 있도록 즉 실천에 이르게 한다. 유기준은 그 정점에 서있다. ■ 이철규

Peony – Wealthy & Noble Flower Not as a Configuration But as Immanent Meanings ● 1. What is the reality of peonies that he wants to express from his works? "Peony means longevity, honor and peace besides wealth and rank." Moreover, "In China, peony is the best of the best among all the flowers from old times, being called to the king of flowers and god of flowers and wealthy & noble flower." What is the meaning that peony has no scents as different as it seems? You, Ki-joon's peony doesn't have stale and real meaning at the top. Peony has its configuration but no reality; namely, there's certain intention to communicate the meaning from an appreciating point of view. This point makes unrealistic difference while unrealistic wind(thought) blows on the flower(peony). That is accumulated on our mind to form a configuration, to be readjusted and to demand our change of thought. Namely, it doesn't demand to win honor and make money but demands the order of realization that we can live in splendor even though we find petty and tref things around us. ● Why is the flower - wealthy & noble flower – beautiful? Moreover, why do we consider the best flower of the best flowers as peony (wealthy & noble flower)? This is his topic. The flower is not a beautiful thing but prospecting human essence. Is the flower a fool because it cannot drop its petals solely? Flowers are considered as a circular process and not thought to fall and bloom again; only, man thinks that flowers fall. Peony, namely, wealthy & noble flower does not only fall but also blooms. It just circulates. There is transcendent wisdom at the end of its hindsight. The splendorous color we consider beautifully is to see the light on the basis of fallen flowers on the earth than ever. That is not flower as a configuration but the flower of the universe and one of co-prosperity stimulating the nature of human to lead a devoted natural life. Also, it's the wisdom seen as an enlightening point of view by chance. In this respect, You, Ki-joon's peony presenting on his works embodies the important idea of Avatamska such as fractalism. The flowers in Avatamska are not the ones for beauty. Such perspective begins from the order of flowers. The order of white, red and yellow peony is reconstructed from a pont of view to see flowers. Namely, own perspective buried in the flowers renders you to see the world. The perspective that you don't consider a configuration as only a configuration; this is hindsight. In other words, that is enlightenment to make you see through and realize a phenomenon. If this enlightenment is not supported by the sophisticated and detailed power of expression, it is obvious that you are far from perspective. Also, such enlightenment leads you to merciful Buddhists' practice. Such enlightenment leads you to perform practices in order that you may live long and prosperous lifes after you show turtles, horses, elephants, cats and pigs on the screen.
