갈무리 하는 전시에 부쳐 ● 요즘 대화해본 젊은 친구들의 비슷한 주제와 고민은 미래에 대한 불안입니다. 기성세대인 나의 불안도 별반 다르지 않습니다. 이렇게 밖에 말할 수 없음에 자괴감도 드는 것이 사실이나 다른 방도가 있겠습니까? 여러분은 자신이 하는 일을 끝까지 자기식대로 견디길 바랍니다.

학교를 떠나 다양한 전시공간에서 여러분들의 작품을 문득 문득 만날 수 있습니다. 나는 전시를 보러 다니다 우리 졸업생들의 작품을 볼 때 감회가 있습니다. 생각의 중심에 자신을 위치시키고 자신을 믿고 살아내기를 기대합니다. 자신을 믿지 못 하는데 어찌 작품으로 다른 사람 마음을 움직일 수 있겠습니까?

앞으로도 학교는 여러분들을 지켜볼 것이고 응원할 것입니다. 형식적인 인사말이나 여러분에게 권유하는 글이 되지 않게 다짐하고 글을 시작했으나 내 마음 같지 않네요. 얼마 전 베트남의 하노이시장 페인트가게에서 붓을 골라보았습니다. 여행지에서 페인트 붓 몇 개 사는 것은 나의 직업병이 되었습니다. 봄에는 산수유 꽃과 생강나무 꽃이 제일 먼저 핀다고 합니다. 축하하고, 고맙습니다. (2015. 2. 11.) ■ 김지원

What concerns young people these days the most would be anxiety about their future, and what I feel about my future is not very different from what they do. I have to say that I have a sense of shame saying that, but what should I say about it differently? I really hope that this year's graduates have the strength to endure and make the future your own. ● I occasionally come across artworks done by our graduates in various art venues, and get impressed by them. I expect all of you to be strong and keep the faith in yourself. How can you expect to impress people with your art when you don't believe in yourself? ● We will keep watching and supporting you. I intended not to be too formative or persuasive when I started writing this, but it is hard to write how I exactly feel. I went to an art store in a market in Hanoi, Vietnam and bought some brushes. It has become my work habit to buy brushes wherever I go travelling. In spring, mountain suty flowers and ginger flowers are the first ones to bloom. Congratulations and thank you very much!
