니콜라 앙리의 사진 이야기 ● 1978년에 태어난 니콜라 앙리는 파리 미술대학과 세르쥬의 국립고등미술대학을 졸업하였으며 캐나다 벤쿠버에서 영화를 공부했다. 유명한 아를르 국제사진축제를 비롯하여 여러 축제에서 명성을 얻었다. 그는 2009년 초 그랑 팔레에서 프랑스 항공사진 전문작가 얀아르투스 베르트랑의『60억의 전세계인』작품 감독을 맡았다. 그는『세상의 이야기들』이라는 전시에서 다채로운 설치물 앞에서 상상의 나래를 펼치는 여러 나라의 사람들의 모습을 담으면서 세계의 많은 사람들의 경험과 기억 그리고 그들의 삶에 존경과 경의를 표하고 있다.

우리 할아버지 할머니의 오두막과 세상 이야기들 ● 이 전시는 두 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 하나는 기록 형식을 띤 '우리 할아버지 할머니의 오두막'이고 다른 하나는 '세상 이야기들'로 설치 작품과 사진이 함께 선보인다. 이 사진 시리즈를 통해 우리는 세상 각지에 있는 다양한 노인들을 만난다. 니콜라 앙리는 오 년이라는 세월을 걸쳐 삼십 개국을 방문해 사백 여분의 노인 초상화를 만들었다. 작품에는 금방이라도 쓰러질 것 같은 오두막 속에 각 개인의 정이 가득한 친숙한 사물들이 가득 차 있다. 이러한 장면은 각 개인의 역사와 상상을 반영하고 있는데, 작가는 작품을 통해 우리 할아버지 할머니가 가지고 계신 그들만의 우주의 한 측면을 말하고 있다. ● 이 프로젝트는 오늘날 우리 세상이 젊음의 이미지와 사회적으로 획일화된 성공의 이미지에 의해 지배되고 있다는 비판으로부터 탄생했다. 과거 언어와 이야기, 그리고 전통을 전달해주고 자연에 대한 지식과 생명의 다양성을 알려주었던 어르신의 역할이 미디어와 교육시스템에 의해 대체된 현실에서 과연 그들의 역할은 무엇일까를 고민하게 한다. 또한 이 프로젝트의 목적은 시간을 초월해 여행할 수 있는 극장을 만드는 것이다. 그래서 그 이야기들이 세상 곳곳에서 구체화되고 보여지는 것이다.

세상 이야기들 ● 이 사진 시리즈는 니콜라가 일본, 이스탄불, 인도 네팔, 중국 그리고 태평양과 남미를 여행하면서 마주친 세계 각지의 주민들과 아프리카의 지역사회를 찍은 것이다. 그는 프랑스와 이탈리아를 마지막으로 이 시리즈 작업을 끝냈다. 거대한 크기의 장면들은 세계 각지에서 발견된 대상들로 만들어졌다. 플라스틱 우주는 이미지 속에서 우리가 보는 이야기를 떠올려 주기 위해 지역주민들과 함께 구성하고 설치되었다. 예를 들어, 인디안 전사들은 카우보이들과의 전쟁에서 승리한 장면으로 연출되고, 기독교와 회교도 가족들은 함께 회교사원-교회를 만든 역사는 한 장면으로 기록되며, 그리고 수많은 사람들의 삶이 법 아래 하나의 기록으로 존재하는 모습은 이스탄불의 무사씨가 카프카 우주와 같은 수 백 권의 법률서적 둘러싸여 있는 장면으로 연출되어 있다. ■ 아트스페이스 354

Nicolas Henry's photography story ● Born in 1978, Nicolas Henry is a graduate of Fine Arts in Paris and the National Art Cergy and has studied the cinema in Vancouver. Including famous Arles Photo festival, he is a photographer of international repute. He also has been the film director of Project『6 billion others』Yann Arthus-Bertrand, exposed to early 2009 Grand Palais.On this exhibition, Nicolas Henry pays tribute to former worldwide through a colorful installation, before which the progenitor and his family pose, spotlighting and imagination. The Playhouses of our Grand Parents and Tales around the World ● The exhibition is composed of two sets : The Playhouses of our Grand parents in the form of a book, and Tales around the World mix installations works and photographs. The series of photographs leads us to meet old people around the world. In five years, Nicolas Henry made four hundred portraits in thirty countries. Each with familiar objects of the person photographed a cabin ephemeral shelter was built, which reflects its history, its imaginary ... In response to the photo, everyone says and reveals a side of his universe. The project was born from the observation that our world today is dominated by the image of youth, and a socially formatted success. What is the role of the elderly in our society where the transmission of the language, stories and traditions and knowledge of nature and biodiversity are superseded by the media and education systems? The aim of the project is close over time to a traveling theater. So the tales take shape around the world. Tales around the World ● This series of photographs is a set of shots taken with communities in Africa, and on the road around the world that led Nicolas to come to Japan, Istanbul, Nepal India, China and the Pacific and South America. He finished the series of photographs in France and Italia. The scenes of large size are made with objects found at the site. The plastic universe is set up with the community in order to evoke the narrative you see in the image. For example, a troop of Indians won the war against the Cowboys, a Christian and a Muslim families are building together a Mosque-Church, Moussa in Istambul is surrounded by hundreds of administrative books like in Kafka's universe, etc. ■ ART SPACE 354
