호주의 다문화는 다른 문화들이 만나고 공존하여 빚어낸 다양성이 존중되는 나라중 하나이지만, 그 다양성이 심한 부작용을 초래하기도 한다. 나의 작품들을 통하여 말하고자 하는것은 한국인으로서 호주에 거주하며 그 다문화를 직접 체험하고 느끼는 경험에서 나오는 소외된 혹은 외로움 등의 감정을 표현하고자 한다. 다른 이민자들이 느끼는 것처럼 그런 소외된 감정은 다른 문화, 다른 언어, 다른 겉모습에서 부터 나오는 것이고 이런 이질감, 다른 문화에 동화되지 못하는 감정들을 나의작품을 통하여 나타내려한다. ■

Australia is one of the nations in which different cultures meet, live and shape the diversity of Australian culture. However, diversity can cause some unpleasant, even traumatic life experiences. This proposed research aims to explore the possible expression of some alienated emotional experiences in such a cross-cultural context, which have arisen from some personal experiences of being Korean in Australia, through art practice. Like many immigrants in Australia, my alienated emotional experiences have been common due to the differences of culture, language and physical outer appearance. Therefore, this research intends to search for visual expressions to reflect some issues on disconnection and alienation from a personal perspective. ■
