깊은 산속 옹달샘 누가 와서 먹나요?

올 2014년은 많은 일들이 있었다. 나의 연초 계획과는 달리 작업의 방향이 달라졌고 '예술 행동'의 영역이 추가되었다. 사회연대책임 이라는 단어는 나를 통째로 흔들어 놓았다. 누군가는 물음을 묻고 누군가는 엉뚱한 답을 하는 상황을 모두가 지켜보는 가운데 과연 어떤 메카니즘이 우리를 이토록 다르게 생각하게, 다르게 행동하게, 다르게 결론짓게 만드는 걸까? 각자가 믿는 진실은 왜 이리 다른 걸까. '절대 진리'를 논하기 전이라도 사람들 마음속에 인정되는 공통된 참眞는 어디까지이며 어느 순간(지점)에 진리의 벽이 새로이 세워지고 허물어지는 걸까 각자 서 있는 제 자리를 극복할만한 초우주적인 혹은 아주 사소한 대안은 없는 걸까. 빌어본다. 바래본다. 따뜻한 온기를 남겨본다. ● 전시는 캔버스 위에 오일.아크릴릭 페인팅 작업, 영상, 사진, 목형 위에 복합재료의 형태로 설치된다. 2013~4년 일 년 동안 기획 그룹전에 참여하며 작업한 결과물과 개인작업으로 사회적 현상에 대한 질문과 행동이며 문자와 이미지 혼용에 대한 호기심은 신화적 상상력과 연결되어 작업과정을 즐길 수 있게 해주었다.

목형작업은 이포 공간의 전시'내용증명'에 참여하는 연계작업으로 현재 문래 지역에서 주물을 뜨기 위한 목형 _생산. 사용. 폐기된 목형에 복합재료를 사용하였다. 터널처럼 과거와 현재를 잇는 문래지역의 지형을 '시간의 열대림'이라 명명. 목형에 문래골목 블록 틈에서 자생하는 잡초로 열대림을 새기고, 부와 장수. 평안과 복을 기원하는 의미를 가진 상징기호를 넣어 '문래부작'으로 다시 부활하는 작업이다. 나의 부작작업이 사람을 연결하고 마음을 강건히 하여주며 온기를 전해주는 부작이 되어 살아가기를 바란다. 작업의 연결에 도움을 주신 김종길 예술비평가. 경기문화재단 신화강좌 관련 분들. 무구 김백호. 이포 박지원 디렉터. 주재환 예술가님께 감사드립니다. ● 문래의 골목길을 손가락으로 벽을 읽으며 걷다가 여우누이의 전설을 떠올리며 구슬을 던졌을 때 시간이 멈춘 듯 우주가 펼쳐지는 이미지의 Time slip- 오늘의 구슬은 무엇일까. 그것은 깊고 깊은 옹달샘과 무슨 연관이 있을까. 세 개의 구슬 중 하나가 없으면 어쩌지. 나에게도 구슬이 얻어질까. 깊고 깊은 옹달샘은 모두에게 허락된 것일까. Many things happened in 2014. My plan from the beginning of the year was not meaningful any more, so I added Protest Art. The idea of Social Responsibility stunned me hard. Somebody was asking a question, somebody was giving an answer that does not answer the question, and we were all watching it while happening. What makes us think so differently, act so differently, and conclude so differently? Why is "the truth" be so different to different people? Not to mention the absolute truth, what is the boundary of common belief that different people can agree with, and at which point do we acquire new belief and discard an old one? Is there a system that is so universal or so trivial, that can guide us to think beyond our own boundary? I pray. I wish. I leave my breath on it. ● The exhibition includes composite materials such as oil, acrylic painting, video, picture, and wooden form displayed on top of canvas. It is a collection of my works for group exhibition I participated during 2013-2014 and some personal works. They are my questions and actions about current social phenomenon. My curiosity about the mixed use of letters and images is combined with mythical imagination, which was very fun to work through. ● Wooden form work is a linked activity with the exhibition at Ippo Space "Contents Certification". Composite materials are used on wood castings that were created, used and discarded in Moonrae area. I call the Moonrae area "Time Jungle" for the co-existence of past and presence in it like a tunnel. The work revives the wooden form into "mullae buzack" by engraving tropical jungle using weeds grown around Moonrae Ally and putting symbols of richness, longevity, peace and good fortune. I wish my artworks become something that connects people and keep their minds and strong and warm. ● I walk down the Moonrae Alley, read the walls through my fingers, think of the story 'Gumiho sister', and like how throwing a marble ball stops the time, I think of an image of the universe with time slip. ● What is today's marble? What is the relation to the deep spring pool? What if I don't have all three? Would I get any? Is the pool allowed to everybody? (the note in a deep deep forest) ■ CHOERAYUN
