"우연의 지배란 우리가 예기치 않은 곳에서 우리를 지켜보고 우리의 일을 역사(役事)하는 어떤 힘이 우연처럼 작용하여 우리의 힘이 미치지 못하는 결과를 초래할 수도 있다는 의미를 지니고 있다" (김영재 평문 중). 역으로 생명의 탄생이 매우 우연적요소를 지닌 필연의 결과임을 바탕에 깔고 있는 함축된 주제이다. 여기에 부제를 달아『우연의 지배-고기잡이를 위한 씻김』,『우연의 지배-마음으로 세우는 탑』,『우연의 지배-고요와 울림』,『우연의 지배-포도밭에서』로 이어져 왔다. ● "우연의 지배-레퀴엠2014"는 올 4월에 일어난 충격적이고 비극적인 사건 "세월호"의 아픔을 레퀴엠을 통해 보듬고 보내고자하는 작가적인 기록과 소통의 의미를 갖고 있다. 이는 화가 자신의 화명인 화산(和山)을 대학졸업 후 그림에 매진해온 30주년인 올 초부터 쓰기 시작했으며, 그 뜻이 산과 강의 조화 즉 자연의 어울림을 천명한 것이다. 이러한 복합적인 의미와 함께 그림이라는 가상의 이미지가 그 생명력을 득 하기위해서는 그 시대를 살아가는 시대적인 산물로서의 역사성과 정신성 그리고 화가 자신의 정체성을 동시에 드러내야하고, 또 그러한 작품이야말로 진정 소통으로서의 언어로 남는다는 것을 의미한다. ● 강화산의 첫 작품전이 1989년 "레퀴엠"이라는 주제로 시작되었는데 그때의 의미는 광주항쟁으로 시작된 1980년대의 비극적인 삶으로 마감한 영혼을 레퀴엠의 뜻 그대로 안식의 길로 인도하고 미래를 향한 영원한 화두인 살아가는 사람들의 화합과 조화를 위함 이였다. 그리고 1990년대부터 "우연의 지배"라는 주제로 작품의 경향 또한 구상에서 추상으로 전환하였고 그림의 주제는 지금까지 지속적으로 "우연의 지배"를 탐구하고 있다. ●『우연의 지배-레퀴엠 2014』전시는 한 화가가 화가로서의 현존의 삶을 그림에 어떻게 반영하고 그것을 캔버스라는 공간에서 어떻게 자유 하는지를 자연스럽게 보여주는, 그리고 그것을 추상적인 조형언어로 담백하게 풀어내고 있다. 2014년 가을의 끝자락에서 나를 거울처럼 드러내 새롭게 다가 갈 수 있는 소중한 시간을 만들어 보길 기대한다. ■ 가가 갤러리

"Incidental dominion means that some sort of power can to influence us can produce unexpected results beyond our control by watching us from unexpected places and serving as a contingency (from the appreciation note by Kim Yeong-jae)." To the contrary, the beginning of life is an implied theme based on the fact that it is the inevitable result with strong contingent factors. Subsequently, it has continued with subtitles: "Incidental Dominion in Life ? Cleaning Ritual for Fishing", "Incidental Dominion in Life ? Stupa", "Incidental Dominion in Life ? stillness and movement", and "Incidental Dominion in Life ? at vineyard". ● "Incidental Dominion in life - Requiem 2014" aims to understand the pain and mourn the victims in the shocking and tragic "sinking of the MV Sewol" occurred in April 2014 and means a record as an artist and communication. He has begun using his pseudonym "Hwassan (화산; 和山)" since the beginning of the year in his 30th year of life as an artist. The meaning clarifies the harmony of rivers and mountains, or the balance of nature. In order to breathe life into a virtual image of painting with these multiple meanings, it is necessary to represent the historicity and spirituality as a product of the time and identity of the painter at the same time. Moreover, such works remain as a language in the sense of true communication. ● In 1989, Hwassan's first exhibition was held on the subject of "Requiem". At that time, it was held in the literal sense of requiem for the victims who met with a tragic end in the 1980s including the Gwangju Uprising and for the harmony among people as a persistent theme for the future. Since the 1990s, he has converted to abstraction in tendency and concept of his works on the theme of "Incidental Dominant" and continuously explored "Incidental Dominion" as a theme of painting thus far. ● "Incidental Dominion in life - Requiem 2014" shows how a painter reflects current life as a painter in paintings, naturally represents how free it is in the space of the canvas, and simply interprets it by abstract formative language.
