2014 청년예술100 홍콩역(青年艺术100•香港站)-"New Face, New Art" ● 예술, 특히 시각 예술은 인류의 창조력을 구체적으로 반영해주는 역할을 해왔다. 전통에 대한 도전이자 미래에 대한 문화적 태도로 여겨지고 있는 동시대 예술은 지속적으로 다양하게 변화해 왔으며, 작금의 우리에게 더 이상 대단히 놀라운 대상으로 여겨지고 있지는 않다. 하지만, 여전히 동시대 예술은 개념 혹은 매체의 측면에서 우리의 상상력을 뛰어 넘고는 한다. 동시대 시각 예술이란 단순한 우리 생활 속 정교한 장식품이 아니라, 우리의 사고를 확장시켜 주고 새로운 동기를 부여해주는 하나의 원동력이라 할 수 있다. ● 동시대 예술이 미래에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가정은 미래를 주도할 현재 젊은 청년들의 동시대 예술에게 중요성을 부가하게 된다. 지난 30여 년간 동시대 예술은 단계별로 발전해 왔다. 아시아 지역의 동시대 예술은 일정기간 서양의 영향을 받고 발전했으나, 이제는 독립적으로 변화 발전해 오고 있다. 특히 현재 아시아 지역의 젊은 작가들은 전통 문화에 뿌리를 두되 변화 무쌍한 현실 사회의 모습을 주시하면서 세계화 시대에 걸맞게 폭넓은 활동을 하고 있다. 그들의 작품을 통해 우리는 시대 변화의 흐름과 새로운 시각 문화 예술을 파악할 수 있으며, 우리 생활 안에서의 동시대 예술의 가치와 긍정적 미래를 확인할 기회를 갖는다.

홍콩은 지리적, 역사적, 문화적 배경을 장점으로 이용해 동서 문화 예술의 허브 역할을 하고 있다. 다양한 예술 행사를 통해 아시아를 세계에 보여주고 있으며 그 영향력도 점점 커지고 있다. 홍콩 정부 역시 대대적으로 문화 예술의 발전에 힘쓰고 있어, 세계 예술의 도시, 아시아 예술의 중심지를 자처하고 있다. 세계 각국의 적극적은 참여와 대중들의 관심 속에 특히 매년 5월 "아트 바젤 홍콩"과 "프랑스 5월 문화 공연" 등의 행사는 전 세계 문화 예술인의 주목을 받고 있다. 같은 5월, '청년예술100'은 홍콩 소재 K11 아트 몰에서 "청년예술 100 홍콩역" 전시를 진행한다. ● "청년예술100 조직위원회"와 "중국 동시대 예술 프로모션센터"(CCAP), "K11 예술재단"이 함께하는 이번 "청년예술100 홍콩 역"은 "New Face, New Art"의 주제로 지난 3년 동안 청년예술100 프로그램에 참여했었던 한국과 중국 젊은 작가 중 60명을 선별하여 선보일 예정이다. K11 아트 몰 내의 3개의 주요 공간에서 젊은 작가 60명의 작품 70여 점을 전시하고, 전시 기간 중에는 각종 강좌와 체험 프로그램을 진행하여 대중들이 좀 더 재미있게 동시대 예술을 이해하는 자리를 마련할 예정이다. 이를 통해 작가, 전시 기획자, 소장가들과 대중이 직접 소통할 수 있는 기회를 제공하여 보다 적극적으로 동시대 예술에 대한 이해를 도울 뿐만 아니라, 홍콩 등 아시아 문화 예술의 진면모를 보여주고자 한다.

'청년예술100'(ART NOVA 100) ● '청년예술100'은 1975년 이후 태어난 젊은 중국 작가 100명의 작품을 1년간 중국 대륙을 포함한 아시아를 중심의 순회전시를 통해 홍보하고 지원하는 프로그램이다. 자발적인 공모를 중심으로 작가를 모집하며, 십여 명의 예술 전문가로 구성된 예술위원회에서 매년 새로운 작가를 발굴하고 선정하고 있다. 2011년 9월, 베이징(北京)을 시작으로, 광저우(广州), 상하이(上海), 우시(无锡)를 포함한 총 4개 도시에서 대규모 단체전을 성공적으로 마쳤다. '청년예술100'은 중국 현지에서 2011년 '우수 예술 프로젝트', '우수 예술 단체'로 선정되어 이미 젊은 작가를 프로모션 해주는 중국의 대표적인 예술단체로 주목 받고 있다. 참여 작가 전원이 참여하는 대규모 순회전시 뿐만 아니라, '청년예술100'에 선정된 작가 중 주제에 따라 소규모 그룹전을 지속적으로 기획하여 1년 동안 젊은 작가들을 중국 대륙 및 아시아에서 지원해 주고 있다. ● 2012년도 '청년예술100'은 베이징(北京), 홍콩(香港), 오르도스(鄂尔多斯), 청두(成都), 션전(深圳)에서, 그리고 2013년에는 베이징(北京), 션전(深圳), 상하이(上海)에서 전국 순회 전시를 성황리에 개최하였고, 전시 이외에도 작품 전시 설명회, 예술 강좌, 학술 포럼, 출판 등 더욱 다양한 방법을 통해 지속적인 젊은 작가 프로모션 활동들을 진행해 왔다. 또한 2012년부터 '청년예술100'에서는 100명의 중국 작가들뿐만 아니라, 매년 10명의 한국의 젊은 작가들을 지속적으로 초청하고 있으며, 앞으로 '청년예술100'은 중국 및 아시아 대도시 순회전 뿐 만 아니라 서구에서도 전시를 개최하여 아시아를 비롯한 전 세계 젊은 작가들의 교류의 장이자, 진일보 할 수 있는 발판이 되고자 지속적으로 노력할 것이다. ■ 청년예술100 조직위원회

ART NOVA 100 Hong Kong Station-"New Face, New Art" ● Art, especially the visual art, has always been regarded as a concrete reflection of human creativity. Contemporary art has already become a challenge to our conventional thinking on cultural attitude for the future. As a constantly challenging and future-oriented art, various permutations and change of its forms and language expression are no longer news to our society. However, the concept and medium of its presentation are not always easily caught by any stretch of imagination. Hence, contemporary art is not just a decoration of our lives but a key to open our minds and motivate our actions. ● It is beyond doubt that the youth of today is the main source of creation for the contemporary art. If we believe the contemporary art acts positively for the future, we should also believe the contemporary art is the youth's art. Over the past 30 years, contemporary art in Asia had developed step by step from the past learning from its Western counterpart. Nowadays, the youth's creation has taken the advantage of traditional culture and thoughts, and changed to the real experiences. Through the youth's creation, we can experience different cultures and art, identifying the value of contemporary art in our lives, with a more positive perception towards the future. ● Growing from its Chinese soil and roots, with the influence of colonial connections, Hong Kong has developed into a place with vibrant and eclectic style and taste. Based on its unique cultural and hereditary background and its geographical edge, the flourishing art events staged in Hong Kong have been in the spotlight all over the world. In recent years, the Government of Hong Kong has been actively making efforts in promoting the development of arts and culture in order to become an international art capital, as well as Asia's art centre; with active community participation, public attention on art are growing unprecedentedly. Every year in May, the global artistic endeavours focus on Visual Arts of Art Basel Hong Kong, cultural performances of Le French May and, Art Nova 100 whose objective is to promote art dedication by the young and emerging artists. This year, Art Nova 100 is held in early May in Hong Kong at, K11, and this would undoubtedly be a good time to catch the attention of the world. ● Art Nova 100 Committee proudly presents with Chinese Contemporary Art Promotion Centre (CCAP) and K11 Art Foundation, Art Nova 100 Hong Kong Station, thankfully with the full support and sponsorship by K11. "New Face, New Art" is the theme of this Hong Kong tour in which 60 young Asian artists take part in, with over 70 selected artworks exhibited in K11. During this Art Nova 100, there will be talks and workshops, hosted by leading collector, curator and artists, with an objective that the general public and art enthusiasts shall gain insight on art appreciation and understanding, through direct interaction with artists.
