Grand Open

청주미술창작스튜디오에서는 2013-2014 제7기 입주작가 아티스트 릴레이 전시를 개최한다. 이번 전시는 그간 작가들의 입주기간 동안 제작된 작품들을 중심으로 스튜디오와 외부에서 진행된 전시 및 개별 프로젝트 등을 정리하여 입주 후 작가의 향방을 보여주는 전시이다. 이번 아티스트 릴레이 전시는 루카스 헤퍼 작가의 전시로 7기 입주작가의 12번째 아티스트 릴레이전이다. ■ 청주미술창작스튜디오

베를린과 뉴욕을 오가며 작업을 하고 있는 루카스 호퍼는 UCL 런던대학교와 슈투트가르트 국립조형예술대학에서 미술사와 건축을 전공했으며, DAAD 장학금과 Landesgraduiertenfoerderung BW 를 수혜 받았다.

그의 작업은 공간에 집중하고 있는데, 특히 감각을 자극하고 현혹하는 복합적인 환경들의 reference-system을 창조한다. 형태는 특정한 상황과 규제, 그리고 그것들의 영향을 받아 형성된다. 그의 의도는 이성의 감각을 혼란케 하는 모순된 상태를 야기하기 위해 그가 만든 형태들과 그들이 가진 각각의 관계들을 불안정하게 만든다. 그의 설치 작업은 관람객으로 하여금 신체적이고 물질적인 몰입이 가능하도록 공간을 지배하며, 동시에 섬세한 관찰이 필요한 세부형태들도 포함한다. 그는 역사와의 관계, 그리고 사회와 개인의 정체성과의 상대적인 접근을 작품을 통해 만들어 낸다. 그는 최근 장소 특정적인 대규모 설치 작품인 "Dom na Prospekte"를 모스크바 비엔날레에서, "Mellonflesh Monument" 를 마드리드의 Matadero에서 전시했다. 현재는 청주미술창작스튜디오에 단기입주작가로 활동 중이다. ■

Lukas Hofer lives and works in Berlin and New York. After studying art history and architecture, he graduated from UCL London and State Academy of Art Stuttgart. He received the DAAD graduate scholarship and Landesgraduiertenfoerderung BW. ● Hofer's work concentrates on space. He creates reference systems - complex environments that are both bewitching and irritating to the senses. Form is shaped by specific circumstances, restraints and impacts. He intentionally destabilizes his forms and their relations to each other, creating incongruities that confound ones sense of reason. Often physically immersive, his installations can occupy large spaces, and contain small details that can be explored intimately. Hofer creates references to history, and to approaches relative to society and individual identity. He recently showed his large scale, site specific installations "Dom na Prospekte" at the Moscow Biennale and "Mellonflesh Monument"at Matadero, Madrid. He currently is Artist in Residence at CJ Art studios South Korea. ■
