Light, Night

청주미술창작스튜디오에서는 2013-2014 제7기 입주작가 아티스트 릴레이 전시를 개최한다. 이번 전시는 그간 작가들의 입주기간 동안 제작된 작품들을 중심으로 스튜디오와 외부에서 진행된 전시 및 개별 프로젝트 등을 정리하여 입주 후 작가의 향방을 보여주는 전시이다. 이번 아티스트 릴레이 전시는 임미나 작가의 전시로 7기 입주작가의 11번째 아티스트 릴레이전이다. ■ 청주미술창작스튜디오

무구조와 무경계의 욕망의 공간 ● 임미나는 자연의 그림자조차 완전히 사라진 인공의 공간에 주목한다. 익숙한 현상, 너무나도 당연하여 아무도 주목해보거나 사유의 대상으로 삼지 않는 도시의 밤거리 풍경에 대한 본질적인 질문을 던져본다. ● 자연은 까맣게 칠해지고 현란한 조명 속에서 인간의 문명이 극명하게 드러나는 도시의 밤에 주목한다. 신이 창조한 세계가 어둠 속으로 사라지면 인간이 만들어낸 도시를 인공의 빛으로 환하게 밝히고 감각의 유희를 즐긴다. 번쩍이는 불빛을 따라 욕망의 물결이 흐른다.

자연의 질서와 의미를 버리고 인간이 개조한 질서 속에서 무의미의 파노폴리를 만끽하는 사람들이 거기에 있다. 길거리에, 건물 속에도 사람이 있다. 그 누군가가 찬란한 불빛에 의지하여 그 어떤 곳을 향하여 끊임없이 이동한다. 그들이 누군지는 중요하지 않다. 단지 신의 섭리와 이성의 지배에서 벗어난 도시인의 억압된 욕망이 분출하며 도시공간을 즐기는 그 윤곽을 포착할 뿐이다. 그들은 역겨운 현실을 잊고 자연을 잊는다. 실재와 허구, 경험과 상상 사이에서 의미 찾기를 포기한 도시인들은 자기들만의 세계에서 유희를 즐기고 있는 것이다. 더 화려하게, 더 풍요롭게, 더 빠르게, 더 다양하게, 더 강렬하게 자극적인 세계로, 인공의 빛, 향기, 맛에 취해 도시인은 목적지도 없이 비틀거리며 마치 무중력의 우주공간을 부유하듯이 도시를 배회한다. 임미나는 휘황찬란하고 시끌벅적한 도시 밤거리에서 배회하는 사람에 주목한다. 현대라는 시공간을 살아가는 우리들의 채워지지 않는 욕망의 흐름을 도시의 풍경으로 보여주고 있다. 우리는 누구이며, 어디쯤에서 무엇을 하고 있으며, 무엇을 찾아 헤매고 있는지를 묻는 것이다. ■ 신은주

Space of Structureless and Boundaryless Desires ● Artist Yim Mi na takes notice of artificial space where even a glimpse of nature completely vanished. It throws an intrinsic question on scenes of city streets at night that nobody takes notice of or takes as the object of thought as they are familiar, and quite no wonder. Nature takes notice of city nights where human civilization is clearly revealed under the brilliant light in the dark. When the world God created disappears in the dark, artificial lights are lit up the city human created and play with sense. Along with flashes of light, the wave of desire flows. ● There are people who desert the order and the meaning of nature and enjoy meaningless panopoly in the order reconstructed by human. There are people in streets and buildings. Some people constantly move towards a certain place, depending on flashes of light. It is not important who they are. It just captures the outline in which the urbanites, who get out of the control of Divine providence and reason, vent suppressed desire and enjoy city space. They forget a sickening reality and nature. The urbanites who give up searching the meaning between reality and fiction, and between experience and imagination enjoy amusement in their own world. ● The urbanites, lost in artificial light, scent, and flavor in a more flashy, abundant, speedy, diverse, and intensively stimulating world, stray aimlessly in the city as if they floated in agravic outer space. Yim Mi na takes notice of people straying in the brilliant, uproarious city street at night. The flow of our insatiable desire in temporal space that is present day is shown as a scene of the city. It is asking who we are, whereabout what we are doing, and what we are scouting around for. ■ Shin Eun joo
