에너지풍경 Energyscape

권혁은 자연을 통하여 생명의 근원에 대해 고찰하는 과정을 작품을 통해 재현해왔다. 생각의 흐름이 시간의 흐름과 맞물려 고요하게 때로는 과격하게 변화하고 일렁이는 것을 우리는 그의 작품 속 무형의 형태를 통해서 목격할 수 있다. 작가는 "물의 순간적인 일어남이, 즉 몇 초 만에 일어났다 사라지는 물의 형태가 몇 만 년 된 산의 형태와 같다" 고 한다. 자연에서는 순간이 영원이 될 수도 있고, 영원이 순간이 되기도 한다는 것이다. 인간이 거대한 자연 속에서 미미한 존재일 뿐이라는 것은 누구나 알 수 있지만 그것을 감각적으로 체험하고 느끼는 것은 쉽지 않다. 작품은 관객에게 이 사실을 다시 한번 인식시키고 있다. "사람들은 의자는 의자일 뿐 현상이라고 생각하지 않는다. 평소 각인된 이미지 봤을 때 그저 형태로만 인식하는 오류를 범하는 것이다. 사람들이 생각하는 현상은 비가 온 뒤 뜨는 무지개거나, 뜨고 지는 태양처럼 나타나 보이는 현상을 말한다. 하지만, 달리 생각해보면 우리가 당연히 형태라고 생각했던, 사람마저도 현상일수 있다. 나의 시선이 아닌 지구, 그리고 더 넓은 우주 공간 속에서 지구를 바라본다면 사람 또한, 어떠한 점, 점들의 집합체… 보이지 않는 현상의 에너지 일 것이다." 권혁의 작품은 가시적인 작품의 실체성뿐만이 아니라 작가의 고찰이 고스란히 전달되는 것까지 포함하고 있다. 드로잉과 회화, 실의 스티치로 구상된 작품들은 사유와 감각의 경험을 유도하고 영원과 순간, 객관과 주관의 양가성이 전복되는 과정을 보여준다. ■ 아트파크

Hyuk Kwon has reproduced the process of reflecting on the origin of life in nature through her works. The flow of thought unwinds its path along with the flow of time, enabling us to observe the serene flow and sometimes its radical change in waves through the intangible form taken in her work. The artist notes that "the momentary change in the water, that is, the form of water that arises and disappears in a few seconds, resembles the form of mountain which is ten thousands of years old." By this, the artist describes how a moment can be eternity and eternity can be a moment in the nature. Everybody knows that the human is a petty being in the midst of the nature of grandiose scale but it is not easy to experience this in a sensuous manner. Kwon brings up this fact once more to the viewers. "People simply think chair is a chair and they don't think of it as a phenomenon. When one looks at an image generally impregnated in the mind, one mistakenly perceives it simply as a form. The phenomena that people think about are visible ones like the rainbow after that rain or the sunrise or sunset. However, if we think differently, the human being that we took granted for a form could even be a phenomenon. When viewing the Earth from the vast cosmic space, not from my earthly viewpoint, humans would also be certain dots, groups of dots... energy of invisible phenomena." Kwon's art world englobes not only the materiality of visible work but the way of depicting as intact as possible the reflections of the artist. The works composed of drawing, painting and stitches of thread, induce the thought and experience of senses. Furthermore, the overturning process of ambivalence of eternity and moment, objectivity and subjectivity, is expressed in the works. ■
