파랑波浪은 작은 물결과 큰 물결을 의미한다. 나는 물 (눈물, 빗물, 강물, 바다 등)이나 달이 차오르는 과정을 다양한 파랑색과 여러 소재를 통해 작품화 한다. 그림을 그리면서 반복적으로 뒤로 물러나 작품을 관찰한다. 그리고 그 순간을 사진으로 한 장씩 기록하며 작업을 한다. 작품이 완성되고 나면 그 시작과 끝을 사진을 통해 볼 수 있다. 수 백 장이 넘는 사진들은 다시 짧은 시간의 동영상으로 만들어져 재생된다. 그 동영상 안에는 내가 직접 채집한 빗소리나 바람소리, 파도소리 등이 결합된다. ● 내 작업에서 주로 사용되는 푸른색의 석채나 분채, 은분은 아교와 함께 수 십 번 겹쳐 칠해야만 나타난다. 시간이 필요하다. 깊고 어둡다. 반면에 즉각적인 표현이 가능한 지점토는 가볍지만 생동감이 있다. 천연펄프가 주원료인 지점토는 단단한 조직의 한지인 장지와 아주 잘 결합된다. 평면과 입체, 무거움과 가벼움으로 대비되는 이 재료는 이면을 표현하기에 적절하다.

* 한 장의 완성된 회화작품-> 작업 과정을 찍은 사진들의 집합-> 동영상 / * 동영상-> 작업 과정을 찍은 사진들의 집합-> 한 장의 완성된 회화작품 ● 이러한 작업 형태는 높은 집중력을 요한다. 작품을 구상하는 첫 순간부터 마치 시나리오작가처럼 극본을 쓰고 영화감독처럼 여러 scene을 상상한다. 빈 화면을 바라보며 마음과 머리에서 먼저 밑그림을 그리고 색이 올라가고 완성하기까지의 과정을 생생하게 떠올린다. 하나의 물결은 작은 점에서 시작해서 큰 면으로 차곡차곡 채워진다. 이렇게 그려지는 작품은 그래서 완성품보다는 과정이 더욱 중요하다.

나는 인간을 포함한 모든 사물, 사건에는 그것이 이루어지기까지 지난한 과정이 있다고 생각 한다. 많은 사람들의 눈물이나 땀으로 만들어지는 모든 것. 무엇이 차오르기까지 걸리는 시간, 아픔, 노력 등이 그 속에 들어있다. 눈에 보이는 객관적인 현상, 결과만이 전부가 아니라는 시선이 곧 내 작업을 일관되게 관통하는 주제이다. ■ 윤세영

Parang means small and big waves. I draw the process of being filled up with water (such as tears, rains, rivers and seas). It can be expressed with waves, where I used various blue colors for drawing. While drawing, I keep looking at my work repeatedly, and take pictures on each process. When the work is finished, I can check the work from start to end through the photos. I make a video clip combining the hundreds of photos. The sounds that I took myself from the rain and wave are included in that video work. ● In my work, the blue and silver appears only when it is colored over and over ; which means it takes lots of time to make it a deep and dark color. In contrast, the clay which can be expressed in an easier way than coloring looks light and lively. The clay which is made mainly from natural pulp can be mixed well with Korean paper which has a hard texture. This clay and the powder colors are quite matched well in expressing the contrast between plane and mass, and between heavy and light. ● * A piece of completed work-> The photos of the process of my work -> Video / * Video -> The photos of the process of my work -> A piece of completed work ● This kind of work makes me concentrate. From the moment I plan my work, I write a script as if I was a writer and imagine many scenes as if I was a movie director. I vividly imagine staring at the empty canvas. While imagining, I make a sketch, color it, and finish the painting. One wave is flowing gradually from a small dot to be filled on the big canvas. That's why I care more about the process than about the finished product. ● I'm sure that everything including humans, matters and events embraces the tear and sweat of many people as well as the time, suffering and effort they spent to make it. Only the visible fact and the result cannot be all. This is the theme which flows through all my works. ■ YOUNSEYOUNG
