쾌락의 정원 Garden of earthly delights

청주미술창작 스튜디오에서는 2013-2014 제7기 입주작가 아티스트 릴레이 전시를 개최한다. 릴레이 전시는 입주작가 주요프로그램으로 기존작업과 함께 작가의 향방을 보여주는 전시이다. 입주기간 동안 제작된 작품들을 중심으로, 스튜디오와 외부에서 진행된 전시 및 개별프로젝트 등으로 이루어진다. 6개월간 입주하여 작업한 신민경 작가의 전시로 7기 입주작가의 3번째 아티스트 릴레이 전시를 시작한다.

신민경의 이번 전시의 주요 작품은 3개의 구조물로 이루어진 설치 작품이다. 히에로니무스 보쉬Hieronymus Bosch의 삼면화 「지상 쾌락의 정원The Garden of Earthly Delights」의 장면을 동양화와 비디오를 이용하여, 재해석한 작업이다. 천상, 지상, 지옥 이라는 세계의 모습을 동양화작업으로 재현하고 있으며, 화선지 뒷쪽으로 비디오가 프로젝트되어 빛을 이용한 혼합매체 작품이다. 보쉬의 초현실적인 그림 「지상 쾌락의 정원」에서 보여주는 기괴한 회화표현의 세계에 영감을 받아, 부드럽고 여성스러운 동시에 자유롭고 에로틱한 상반된 아름다움은 신민경이 창조한 「쾌락의 정원」을 이루는 중요한 요소들이다. 현실과 죽음, 특히 여성에 대한 철학적이며 종교적인 작가적 의문은 네델란드의 수도회 성처녀 경배를 중시하는 단체, 성모형제단의 회원이였던 보쉬의 신비로운 작품 「지상 쾌락의 정원」을 만나 신민경만의 세계로 표현된다. 이번 대형 신작시리즈에서 작가 자신의 철학적 성찰을 담고자 한다. ■ 청주미술창작스튜디오

인간관계에서 입장은 상대적 상황에 따라 유기적으로 변한다. 그런 대립관계에서 필연적으로 소외감을 느끼게 되기도 한다. 혼돈스러운 이 체계는 시공간의 연속성에 상관없이 그 동시성을 가지고 있는데, 그것은 약육강식처럼 자연스러움과 동시에 흐르는 에너지에서 서글픈 울림을 만들기도 한다. ■ 신민경

Cheongju Art Studio is pleased to present the Relay Exhibition of the 7th 'Artist-in-Residence' for 2013/14. The Relay Exhibition is a major program for the residential artists showcasing the featured artist's direction along with his/her previous works. The exhibition consists of works from internal and external exhibitions and individual projects, centering on those created during the residential period. This is the 3rd Relay Exhibition of the 7th A-i-R program, featuring the work of Sin Min Kyung during her 6 months residence. ● Sin Min Kyung's major piece in this exhibition is an installation work made up of 3 structures: awork reinterpret a part of Hieronymus Bosch's triptych, ""The Garden of Earthly Delights"" using Oriental painting style and video. It's a mixed media work which reproduces heaven, earth and hell with Oriental techniques as the video beamed onto the back of the rice paper. Inspired by the bizarre painting technique displayed in ""The Garden of Earthly Delights"", a conflicting beauty that's soft, feminine and also liberal and erotic is a major part of Sin Min Kyung's reinterpretation. Philosophical and religious authorial themes to do with reality and earth, especially those concerning women, all come together with the arcane work of Bosch, himself a member of a Virgin Mary Brotherhood that valued the Dutch order's worship of the Virgin Mary. This is all expressed in Sin Min Kyung's world. The artist hopes to put her philosophical introspection into this large new series. ■ CHEOUNGJU ART STUDIO

Human relationships change all the time depending on the relative situation. One inevitably feels a sense of alienation when facing a conflicting relationship. Regardless of space and time, this chaotic cycle continues, as natural as the law of the jungle. All the while, the energy of this cycle surrounds us, leaving us with the sad vibrations. ■ SINMINKYUNG
