Luminizing Sequence 빛이 되어주는 사건들

작가 이수진의 이번 프로젝트『Luminizing Sequence』는 네 개의 층으로 이루어진 특정 공간 안에 '네 개의 막(Act)'이라는 장치를 개입하여, 순차적 사건과 구체적 스토리가 존재하는 연극, 영화, 소설 등과 유사한 전개방식으로 전시 공간을 구성, 관객들을 스토리의 중심에 세워놓는다. 이 작업은 오브제와 텍스트, 설치 등의 복합적인 장치와 단서들의 조합으로 특정 공간의 스토리를 보여주고자 하는 작가 이수진 특유의 자의적 방식을 담은 일종의 시퀀스이다. 이는 일반적인 전시들의 제약과 규칙에서 벗어나, 보다 독특한 방식으로 관객과 소통하기 위한 접근법을 탐구해온 작가의 관심과 태도에서 비롯되었다. ● 이 프로젝트『Luminizing Sequence』에서는 '손전등을 든 사람 : Luminizer'로 일컬어지는 개입자, 그리고 각 층의 스토리를 관객에게 전달하는 개별 텍스트 등의 구체적이며 공감각적인 지표가 등장한다. 이는 우리가 일반적으로 신뢰하고 있는 특정기준, 규칙, 믿음, 고집, 편견 등에 대해 의심의 단서를 제공하고, 관객을 그 다음 세계로 인도하는 가이드 혹은 동반자의 역할을 수행한다. 작가는 이 프로젝트 과정에서, 진실한 삶의 지표를 찾기 위한 실천과 노력들을 관객들과 공유하고, 그로부터 비롯된 메시지들을 통해 구체적인 질문들을 던져보고자 한다. ■ 이수진

Artist Lee Sujin's project "Luminizing Sequence" involves the equipment of 'four acts' where sequential events and concrete stories unfold in a specific space consisting of four floors. This project brings spectators to the center of such stories by constructing the venue in the form of development similar to a play, movie, or novel. This work displays Lee's distinctive arbitrary method, trying to convey a story concerning a specific space through a conflation conflation of complex devices and clues such as objects, text, and installation. ● This derives from the concerns and attitude of the artist who has explored an approach to communicate with spectators in a more unique manner, departing from the restriction and regulation of general exhibitions. In this project, "Luminizing Sequence" appears an involver, "the person carrying a flashlight: Luminizer" and concrete and synesthetic indicators like text, conveying stories from each floor to spectators. These assume the role of offering clues to our doubts to specific standards, rules, and beliefs in which we generally have confidence, persistence and prejudices, and the role of a guide leading us to another world or companion. Through this project the artist tries to share her practice and effort to discover the indicators of a true life, and cast concrete questions through the messages it conveys. ■ LEESUJIN
