REAL I SURREAL I UNREAL

누군가가 만들어낸 실제 존재하지 않는 공간에 자신을 반영시키고 주입하려는 사람들의 모습을 흥미롭게 보아왔다. 특히 작품에 거울이라는 다차원적인 오브제를 사용하고 있는데, 거울은 리얼리티를 반사한 리얼리티가 아닌 이미지를 보여주는 인공물일 뿐이지만, 사람들은 그 이미지에 아름다움을 느끼고 사실로 받아들이려 하는 경향이 있다. 거울과 마찬가지로 SNS와 같은 사이버 공간에서 사람들은 자신의 모습을 뽐내며 보여주려 하고 그로 인해 나르시시스틱 하고 무의미한 글들이 넘쳐나는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이러한 공간들은 실제 존재하지 않는 하나의 프레임이 되고, 사람들로 의해 그 안의 세상에 무수히 많은 'Reality' 와 'Unreality' 를 담아내 꾸며 지고 있다. 나의 작품은 'Real, Surreal, Unreal' 각각의 요소들이 모여 작품이 완성 된다. 리얼리티를 비추지만 한 차원 걸러진 Unreal의 반사된 이미지를 가지고 있는 거울, 빈 공간에 프레임에 의해 생성된 새로운 Surreal 한 공간, 그리고 작품에 인용된 누군가가 만든 가상 공간인 'Facebook'에서 떠다니는 어떤 이들의 글들이 모여, 내가 만든 공간 그리고 누군가에 의해 만들어진 공간이 하나의 복합적 공간으로 재구성된다. ■ 고은경

Image of people who try to inject and reflect themselves to an artificial space made by someone else have always fascinated me. I have been using mirror, which is a multidimensional object in my work. Mirror is an artifact that reflects image and does not reflect the reality. People have propensity to feel beauty and accept that image as reality. Likewise, people have propensity to show off themselves in cyber space like SNS. As a result, there are full of meaningless and narcissistic posts in cyber space. These spaces become frame that does not exist and this artificial frame holds and embellishes numerous reality and unreality that exist in the space. Factors from real, surreal and unreal gather and complete my work. Mirror seems to reflect reality but reflects unreal image of reality by filtering one-dimensional aspect of reality. With combination of Frames in empty space, which creates surreal space and wandering post from artificial space Facebook creates a bond between the space that I have created and the space that someone else created. ■ KOEUNGYEONG
