공간을 헤매다 Wandering the space

2013-2014 청주 미술창작 스튜디오에서는 제7기 입주작가 아티스트 릴레이 전시를 개최한다. 릴레이 전시는 입주작가 주요프로그램으로 기존작업과 함께 작가의 향방을 보여주는 전시이다. 입주기간 동안 제작된 작품들을 중심으로, 스튜디오와 외부에서 진행된 전시 및 개별프로젝트 등으로 이루어진다. 3개월 동안 입주하여 작업한 이지연작가의 전시로 7기 입주작가의 첫 번째 아티스트 릴레이 전시를 시작한다. ●『공간을 헤매다』展 은 공간 드로잉을 활용해 실제 전시 공간에 설치와 다양한 작품으로 구성된다. 특히 2006년부터 시도했던 설치 모형작업을 이번 창작스튜디오 입주기간 동안 심화 연구하여 보여준다. 이 작품들은 (이번 전시는) 기존의 평면적 공간 재구성에서 실제 공간으로의 실현에 앞선 가변적 연구과정이라고 할 수 있다. 작가는 관객들이 자신이 표현한 공간 속에서 개개인의 기억과 상상을 투영해 새로운 공간을 경험 하기를 기대한다. ■ 청주미술창작스튜디오

그림 속을 돌아다니느라 가족을 잃어버린 줄도 몰랐던 때, 외가 마루에 놓인 소파에 누워 눈으로 천장을 걸어 다니며 새로운 공간을 찾는 듯 고개 아픈 줄 몰랐던 때... ● 그 때부터였는지도 모르겠다. 내가 공간 속을 헤매며, 길을 찾고, 새로운 길과 공간을 만들며 즐거워하고... 쉽게 발을 내딛지 못하면서도 저 너머에 어떤 공간이 있을까 늘 궁금해하며, 바라봤었다. 2013년 오늘도 공간을 헤매며... ■ 이지연

Cheongju Art Studio is pleased to present the relay solo-exhibitions, featuring the 7th group of artists who are participating in the 2013-14 Cheongju artist-in-residence program. These relay exhibitions are one of the major parts of the programs for the artists, and each artist creates new art works with his/her own subject matter experienced both in and out the studio for the residence period. Lee Jiyeon's exhibition is the first exhibition of the relay exhibitions, which have been produced during the three-month in the Cheongju art studio. ● Lee Jiyeon's exhibition, Wandering the Space is consisted of several installations and works created with her own space-drawing works. Especially she brings out recent model-installation works researched and developed during her three-month studio residence experience since her first trial for model-installation in 2006. This includes three dimensional installation modified from the compositions of the two dimensional space, and a research process of shifting from re-composition of the two dimensional spaces to three dimensional installation in reality. The artist invites audiences to experience these spaces and expects they can reflect their own memories and imaginations on the spaces to create their own ones. ■ CHEOUNGJU ART STUDIO

The time, when I did not recognize the fact that I've lost my family during I was wandering into the paintings... The time, when I did not even notice the pain of my neck during my eyes were focused on the ceiling of my grandmother's house... ● Perhaps, it has happened since that time. I have been wandering new spaces, looking for new ways, making new roads and spaces. I was enjoying going around the new spaces. Even though I could not step forward, I have been delighted to do so, wondering and staring a space beyond. ● Would there be any spaces? Today, I also wandered the spaces. ■ LEEJIYEON
