미래는 언제나 인간의 주요 관심사이다. 앞날이 반드시 좋은 일만을 기약하는 것은 아니지만, 때로는 유일한 희망이다. 과학과 예술, 정치 등 모든 인간의 행위는 과거를 연구하고 현실을 이해하고자 함으로써 미래를 모색해왔다. 이 프로젝튼는 미래사회를 여러 방향에서 바라보고 하나의 모델을 제시해보고자 하는 시도이다. 우리 사회는 다양한 사건들, 주로 경제의 변화와 사회 이념에 따른 여러 형태의 개발과 함께 변화했으며 산업 발전 이후의 개발사업은 새로운 형태의 사회 기관과 정체성을 만드는 계기가 되었다.

다가올 미래에 더욱 자유롭고 빈번해지리라 생각되는 이주의 형태와 삶의 모습 속에서 국가 정체성이 더 이상 강력한 이데올로기가 아니라고 가정한다면, 소수 민족과 소수민 공동체, 디아스포라는 어쩌면 새로운 사회의 선구자일지도 모른다. 따라서 소수민족으로 살아온 고려인 디아스포라는 미래 사회에 대한 우리의 탐구에 좋은 연구대상이다. 이 프로젝트가 열린 책의 1장처럼 미래의 한 가능성에 대한 실마리를 찾는 시작점이기를 바란다. ■ 이소영_알렉산더 우가이

People are always interested in the future. Looking ahead does not always promise something good, but sometimes, it is the only hope. Human activities whether scientific, artistic, or political have always sought the future - by studying the past and trying to comprehend the present. The aim of this project lies in our urge to understand the shape of tomorrow's society. In collaboration, our vision for the project is to see the future in a non-linear form. ● Our society has been transformed by many things, but mostly, by economic changes and different types of development along with social ideologies. The new post-industrial development suggests the emergence of new social institutions and new identities. ● Small social groups, communities and diasporas may be harbingers of a new society, where national identity is no longer the main ideology and where the free choice of place of residence is quite common. Hence, Koryo Saram - a term for the Korean Diaspora from the 19th century in Central Asia- as a small group, is a good subject for our artistic investigation of the future of society. We hope this project will be the starting point in the search for clues of possibilities of the future, thus the first chapter of an open book. ■ Soyung Lee_Alexander Ugay
