본 전시는 서울시립미술관에서 운영하는 난지미술창작스튜디오 7기 입주작가의 기획전시 『2013 NANJI ART SHOW』로서 두 번째 전시입니다. 전시는 현재 입주활동을 하는 작가들에 의해 기획되었으며, 입주기간이 끝나는 10월 말까지 9회에 걸쳐 지속해서 진행됩니다. ■ 난지미술창작스튜디오

『4 dialogues』는 참여작가 사이의 대화를 위한 전시로 기획되었으며, 몇몇 에피소드와 이야기의 프롤로그를 들려주는 방식을 취하고 있습니다. 난지미술창작스튜디오에 입주한 Bang & Lee, 이원우, 차미혜 작가는 대화의 단절과 연결을 포함한 전개과정을 작업에 반영하고 있습니다.

다소 선언적인 텍스트 작업과 조용히 이야기를 건네는 듯 하면서도 메시지가 뚜렷한 작업 등이 섞여 서로에게 말을 걸고 이야기를 들어주는 것처럼 작품들 사이의 연결고리가 자연스럽게 발생하는 지점을 열어두고 있습니다. 작가들은 이에 대한 각자의 의견을 교환하고 토론의 과정을 거쳐 나름의 이야기를 풀어내고 있습니다.

다이얼로그는 둘 이상의 대상 사이에 이루어지는 상호교감과 소통을 위한 예술의 의미를 함축하고 있습니다. 각각 두 곳으로 나누어진 전시장은 기존 내러티브를 바탕으로 한 작업으로 이루어진 공간과 대화의 과정을 통해 해석한 새로운 작업이 전시되는 공간으로 구성되어 있습니다. 대화란 무엇인가에 관한 논의를 대화의 시작점으로 봤을 때, 이번 전시는 참여작가 사이의 대화가 오고 간 흔적들을 보여준다고 할 수 있습니다. 즉흥성, 해프닝, 가변설치의 성격이 드러나는 이번 전시는 참여작가 사이 대화의 한 방식으로 채택된 작업이 재구성되며 기억되는 것과 잊히는 것 사이, 기록되는 말과 사라지는 대화의 관계를 재설정하고 있습니다. 변형 가능한 작업은 소통을 위한 실험적 프로젝트로 이루어져 새로운 프로덕션의 가능성을 확대하게 됩니다. ■ 방&리

The "2013 NANJI ART SHOW" is the second special exhibition of artworks by the 7th term residency artists of the SeMA NANJI RESIDENCY run by the Seoul Museum of Art. The show, which has been planned by artists who are part of the residency activities, will be held in nine series until the end of October when their residency ends. ■ SeMA NANJI RESIDENCY

4 dialogues is an exhibition designed to initiate dialogue between participating artists by telling a few of their episodes and the prologue of their own stories. Artists Bang & Lee, Wonwoo Lee, and Mihye Cha, who are in the SeMA NANJI RESIDENCY, reflect the process of their development, including the connection and disconnection of dialogues, in their artworks. Their artworks, which seem to talk to each other and tell stories in a somewhat whispered words or which have a disjunctive message, intermix with each other. They leave the point where artworks naturally interconnect, like a link, open. These artists tell stories after going through the process of discussing and exchanging their thoughts. Dialogues reflect mutual communion that takes place between more than two people. The exhibition hall is divided into two sections. One presents artworks that are based on the works related to narratives while the other shows new pieces that interpret their stories through the process of dialogue. When we think on discussions about what dialogue is as a starting point of dialogues, this exhibition will show traces of dialogues held between the participating artists. This exhibition, which has the characteristics of improvisation, happening, and variable dimensions, reorganizes the artworks selected for this exhibition into the mode of dialogue between the participating artists. It re-establishes the relationship between the recorded dialogues and disappearing dialogues, or the relationship between the dialogues to be remembered or forgotten. The work in process will become some other more experimental project for dialogue and open up new possibility of production. ■ Bang & Lee
