위장 僞裝 Camouflages

작가 하진은 머리가 없는 신체의 이미지에 매혹되어 있다. 우리가 옷을 갈아입으면서 머리가 옷에 덮이는 순간에 하진은 관심을 가진다. 옷에 덮여 머리가 없어진 인물은 타자가 되며 분석의 대상이 된다. 머리와 눈이 가려진 인물은 눈 먼 상태와 유사한 이 상태에서 세계와 매우 제한된 관계를 가지게 된다. 그러나 제한된 감각으로 인해 그 인물은 자아와 타자, 볼 수 있는 것과 알 수 있는 것 간의 관계에 물음을 던지면서 새로운 가능성을 타진하게 된다. 하진의 최근 작업은 이러한 그녀의 관심사가 움직임에 주목하면서 전개되어왔음을 보여준다. 이번 전시에서는 팔과 다리의 이미지에 주목한다. 수많은 다리로 만들어지는 공의 이미지, 발, 서로 잡고 있는 팔로 이루어지는 단위들의 반복된 이미지, 머리 없는 두 신체가 서로 연결되어 있는 형상 등. 사지 四肢는 머리의 판단에 따라 움직이고 행동하는 수동적인 부분으로 간주될 수 있다. 그러나 이 전시에서 사지는 능동적인 주체로 제시된다. ■ 김희영

Camouflages ● Ha Jin has been fascinated with an image of a body without head. An instance when the head is covered while we change clothes strikes her. This headless figure becomes an other and an object of analysis. This figure, whose head and eyes are covered, has a limited access to the world, since it is similar to blindness. Yet the limited sense allows the figure to explore a new possibility, inquiring the relation between the self and the other, the seeable and the knowable. The current body of Ha Jin's work shows that her interests have evolved to focus on the sense of movement. She presents the image of limbs, such as balls of legs, feet, interlocked bodies without heads, and repeated units composed of interlocked arms. Limbs can be considered passive parts in the body merely executing the head's order to perform. Now they become active subjects. ■ KIMHEEYOUNG
