나의 작업은 삶의 에너지에 대한 관심으로부터 비롯된다. 나에게 에너지는 무수한 선들의 움직임으로 인식되며 나는 그러한 선들을 풀어내는 작업을 한다. 삶의 에너지는 그 무엇들과의 이어짐으로부터 비롯되며, 그것이 무엇이 됐든 어떤 존재의 삶이란 세상 그 무엇과 관계를 통해 삶이 될 수 있다. 이것과 저것 혹은 저것과 그것들이 만나, 그 무엇들과의 이어짐을 통해 생성될 수 있는 사이와 경계에서 탄생 가능한 것에 관한 작업이다. 사이와 경계에서 생성되는 것들이기에 일상에서 익숙한 이미지들이 아닌 혼재된 형상들이거나 추상적 이미지로써 조우하게 된다. 존재하지만 육안으로 확인할 수 없는 모호하고 불분명한 것들을 시각으로 경험할 수 있도록 하는 작업이기에 나의 감수성과 생태학적 상상력에 의해 극대화되어 표현된다.

유기적 관계망에서의 인간의 심리와 정체성에 대한 작업들을 해왔는데, 최근에는 직접 손으로 실을 풀어내고 연결하는 작업을 통해, 육화된 삶에 대하여 포착해내는 작업을 계속 진행 중에 있다. 실타래에 감겨진 실은 삶의 여러 이어짐 속에서 살아가는 존재들로 관계의 잠재성을 의미한다. 실타래에서 실을 풀고 풀어진 실들은 이리 저리 뒤엉켜 서로 얽히기도 하고 엮기도 하는 등, 다양한 색의 실을 연결하는 방법에 따라 모든 표현이 가능해진다. 풀어진 실들을 수성접착제로 고정시킨 실덩어리들은 인간과 동물, 식물들의 여러 존재의 가능성에 깊히 관계하며 자유로운 형상들로 탄생하게 된다. 나는 그렇게 낱낱히 흩어져있는 개체들을 연결하여 세계와 맞닿는 세계를 생성해나가고자 한다.

그 세계는 다양하고 복잡한 형상들의 개체들이 상호관계 속에서 어떠한 이야기를 만들어 낼 수 있을지 모색함이며, 심신을 편안하게 가다듬듯 실을 푸는 반복된 행위 끝에 펼쳐진 실천들을 공간에 펼쳐내는 행위의 흔적속에서 개체들이 어우러져 만들어내는 공동체의 세계를 창조하게 된다. 그것은 어떻게 개인이 그리고 우리가 세계를 창조한 수 있을 것인지에 대한 탐색이며, 세계에서 자신을 경험하고 의미를 찾기를 바라는 장이다. ■ 이재순

My artwork starts from an interest in the energy of life. To me, the energy is recognized as a movement of limitless lines and my work is to untie the lines. The energy of life is created by a connection with something. Whatever that is. a life of someone or something can have a real meaning of life only though a relationship with something. My work is about things that can be created between things or on the boundary which things meet and connect to each other. Since they are created between things or on the boundary, they take shapes that are mixed or abstract rather than normal and familiar. Since this work is to visualize vague, blurred and unclear things that clearly exist but cannot be seen, my sensitivity and ecological imagination are maximized to express such things. ● I have been working on the human psychology and identity in the systematic network. Recently, through works where I manually untie and connect threads, I have been constantly doing works that capture the corporeal life. The threads that are wound in the skein symbolize existences in many connections of life, meaning the potential for relationships. By untying and tangling threads that are various in terms of colors and methods of connection, every form of expression is available. The thread lump which is made through fixing untied threads with water-based glue take form of anything, deeply relating to the possibility where human, animals and plants exist. I would like to generate a world that meets another world by connecting individual things that are scattered. JaeSoon Lee ● In the world, i seek to create a story in the interrelations among the various and complicated units. Through the repeated thread-untying movement that would comfort our mind and body, a community which is made of various units is created. It is an exploration of how an individual and we can create a world and how to find a medium through which we can experience our own ego and find the meaning of relationship in the world. ■ LEEJAESOON
