새롭고 신기한 것을 좋아하거나 모르는 것을 알고 싶어 하는 마음을 '호기심'이라고 일컫는다. 우리는 무엇을 보았을 때 호기심을 가지게 되는가. 평소 접하지 못한 상황이나 이미지는 우리의 생각을 자극시키고, 호기심은 '왜'라는 질문을 통해 상상을 이끌어 낸다. 무조건적으로 이해하려고 하기보단 다양한 방법으로 표현하고 이야기 해보자는 것이다. ● 호기심은 무지의 고백이란 말이 있다. 작업에서 보여지는 궁금증을 자신만의 방식으로 솔직하게 표현해보길 바란다. 나만의 상상의 세계가 어떤 이에게는 노래가사가 되기도 하고 한편의 시, 영화 속 명대사로 표현 될 수도 있는 것이다. 왜 이렇게 되고, 어떻게 하면 이렇게 될 수 있는지 질문을 던져보자.

이제 더 이상 새로운 것을 찾는 것은 쉽지 않다. 그것을 어떻게 바라보고 재미를 찾는가에 초점을 두고 상상을 해보자. 자신의 경험과 기억의 범위 안에서 다양한 이야기를 만들어 내기에 충분하다. 자신도 모르는 사이에 몽상에 빠져 즐거움을 찾게 될 것이다. 상상은 곧 작품에 대한 해석적 두려움을 호기심으로, 결국 그것을 재미로 바꾸어 줄 것이다. ● 지금부터 당신이 정한 기준에 따라 호기심을 가지고 작품을 바라보게 될 것이다. 엉뚱한 무엇이 되어도 좋다. 아직도 무언가 이해하려고 한다면, 당신은 작업에서 즐거움을 느끼지 못할 것이다. ● 이해하려 하지 말고 상상해보자, 즐겁지 아니한가. ■ 황혜수

The mind we like something new and marvelous or we want to know something unknown is called curiosity. When do we have a curiosity? A circumstance or an image we do not meet ordinally stimulates our thought, and a curiosity draws an imagination though 'why?'. It is to try to express and talk in various ways not to understand unconditionally. ● People say curiosity is confession of ignorance. I hope you will express the curiosity shown through the works frankly in your own way. My own world of imagination can be a lyrics of a song, a piece of poetry, and sometimes a famous line of a movie to somebody. Let's throw a question why it happen to be so and how it can be so. ● It's not easy to find something new anymore. Let's imagine focusing at how we see it and find a fun. It's sufficient to make various story within your own experiences and memories. You can find a pleasure chasing rainbows without even realizing it. Imagination can change an analytical fear on the work to a curiosity and a pleasure at last. ● From now on, you can see a work with a curiosity against criteria you made. It is nice even if it becomes something vagarious. If you try to understand something, you cannot feel a pleasure at working. ● Do not try to understand, just imagine.
