유럽에서 25년을 살아온 외국인으로서 극동아시아의 문화를 되돌아보면서 동양의 전통문화적 요소를 변형한 새로운 작품을 실험한다. 한국의 도예는 탁월한 기술과 오랜 전통을 자랑한다. 그리고 일상에서 기호품으로 사용되고 있다. 한국에서 입주작가로 머무르며 한국작가들과 도덕, 자연, 예술적 관점 등에 관해 대화를 나누며 도예 작품을 제작하고자 한다. ■ 퀴 핑

뱀과 사다리 ● 어린 시절 가지고 놀았던 놀이로부터 이 작품의 영감을 얻었다. 원골에서 입주작가로 머무르며 자연에서 얻은 재료로 이 작품을 제작했다. 환경예술가로서 자연재료의 이용은 내게 매우 중요하다. 나는 자연을 바라보며 탐색하고 이것을 나의 경험이나 기억과 결합시키고자 한다.

놀이방법 ● 이 놀이는 매우 배우기 쉽다. 놀이를 위해 두 명 이상의 사람이 필요하다. 놀이방법은 다음과 같다. 이동은 주사위를 던져 결정된다. 뱀을 만나면 아래로 떨어지거나 뒤로 되돌아가야 한다. 사다리에 다다르면 계속 앞으로 전진할 수 있다! 모든 칸을 통과해 마지막 칸에 먼저 도착하면 놀이에서 이긴다. ■ 아테페 하스

파라드의 도끼 ● 산채굴자 파라드는 페르시아 문학에서 진정한 연인의 상징이라 할 수 있다. 그의 경쟁자는 페르시아 왕인 코스로우이다. 왕은 파라드에게, 비스툰 산에 군대가 통과할 만한 길을 만든다면 파라드의 연인인 쉬린을 주겠노라고 말했다. 파라드는 그의 도끼로 길을 만들었으나, 쉬린이 죽었다는 마녀의 거짓말에 그는 그의 도끼로 자살한다.

이슬놀이 ● 이슬방울은 나뭇가지와 나뭇잎을 공동으로 재생(co-players)시키는 내 영혼의 물방울이다. 내 영혼은 생명력과 행복의 원천이다. ■ 압돌라마드 누라바디

As a foreigner who lives 25 years in Europe, looking back to the culture of Far East Asia, I try to transform some ancient Asian cultural element to my artwork. In Korea, ceramic has excellent technique and long tradition. It is also daily life's favorite in the society. By my residence in Korea, I try to create ceramic sculptures to have a dialogue with Korean artists about nature, human being, moral, and artistic aspect. ■ Qiu Ping

Snakes and Ladders ● In this artwork, I WAS inspired by a game, which I used to play in my childhood. During the art residency in Wongol, I made this piece with natural material. As an environmental artist, the use of natural materials is very important to me. I want to see and explore nature and combine it with my experience and my memory.

How to play ● It's a real game and people can learn to play it easily. You must have at least two persons to play. The instruction of this game are: movement is based on rolling the dice. Any time you encounter a snake, it takes you down and you have to go backward. When you reach a ladder, you keep going and move forward! In order to win in this game, you need to pass all the squares and reach the last one. ■ Atefeh Khas

Farhad's ax ● Farhad,the mountain digger, is the symbol of true lover in persian literature. His rival was Khosrow, the king of persia. The king said to him Shirin ,Farhad's beloved ,is yours; if you make a way in Bistun mountain to pass through it my army. Farhad made the way by his ax but a liar witch says to him Shirin is dead and Farhad kills himself by his ax.

The dew game ● The drops of dew are the drops of my soul that have been the co-players of branches and leave of trees. My soul is the fountain of vitality and happiness. ■ Abdolamad Noorabadi
