원경 Won-Kyung

두산갤러리 뉴욕에서는 11월 15일부터 12월 15일까지 박세진의 개인전『원경(Won-Kyung)』을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 작가의 미국 데뷔전으로서 섬세한 붓터치와 마티에르를 통하여 평면의 공간감과 깊이의 문제를 탐구하고 이를 서정성 있게 표현한 10여 점의 회화를 선보일 예정이다.

일반적으로 사물과 사물의 경계는 각자의 고유한 외관이 정리되어 형태가 명확히 구분되는 지점을 말하지만, 박세진의 회화에서 보여지는 '경계'는 사람의 시각으로 판단할 수 있는 가장 멀리 있는 공간으로서, 우리의 눈으로는 잘 지각할 수 없는 엷은 층과 흐릿한 빛으로만 감지되는 '풍경'임과 동시에, 사물들이 움직임으로 서로 부딪히고 흔들리며 섞여드는 '원경'으로 존재한다. 작가는 이 '경계로서의 풍경'을 섬세한 붓터치와 마티에르 기법을 통하여 존재와 공간의 유기적인 움직임과 만남을 보여주는 '원경'으로 표현해 내고 있다. ● 박세진의 회화는 또한 체리나 장미를 이용하여 밑바탕을 칠한 후 유화물감 등을 이용하여 색채와 형태가 조화를 이루는 풍경을 완성함으로써, 재현된 풍경 속의 작은 문양과 흔적들이 우리와 함께 공존하고 사물과 사물 사이의 경계 너머에는 모든 다양성이 인정되고 유기적인 관계가 무성하게 뻗어 나가는 '원경으로서의 풍경'을 보여주고자 한다. ● 한편 이번 전시에는「김박사의 하루」라는 작품을 통하여 세상의 본질과 인간의 실존적 상황에 대한 관점을 엿볼 수 있는 신작도 함께 선보일 예정이다. ■ 두산갤러리 뉴욕

DOOSAN Gallery New York is pleased to announce the first New York solo exhibition of Korea-based painter Sejin Park's Won-Kyung, from November 15 to December 15, 2012. The exhibition features Park's paintings full of emotion reflecting her dedicated devotion of expressing one's landscape of mind using delicate brush strokes and sensitive colors. ● Park is known for her paintings, which create indigenous to her landscape of Won-Kyung, a Korean word for 'perspective in-distance'. Unlike the distinctive space that separates boundaries of two forms, her periphery of artistic space exists in the farthest possible distance of human sense's reach that can only be perceived by the fading pale light. Here, the movements of forms vibrate, crash and merge into each other as she discreetly piles up the layers of brush strokes of colors blurring the boundaries of forms; thus, accomplishing landscape of 'Won-Kyung'. ● Park often starts a canvas with the extracted color from the natural resources such as cherries and roses. Then, she adds oil colors creating harmonious landscape of shape and color. In this process, she brings nature through exquisite brush stroke and matière within inimitable atmosphere in the depth of space. ● In a mean while, the exhibition also includes one of Park's new paintings, A Day in the Life of Dr. Kim, which questions the existential conditions of human life. ■ DOOSAN Gallery New York
