세계미술의 중심으로 떠오른 중국의 수도 북경에서 미술관련 중요한 행사는 봄에 열리는 "아트페어"와 가을의 "798예술제(페스티벌)"이다. 그 중 올해로 10회를 맞이하는 "798예술제"는 북경시 조양구 따산즈에 위치한 798 예술구에서 열리며 세계미술계에 중국현대미술을 알리는 중요한 행사로 자리 잡았다. 초기 군수공장지역에서 이후 낮은 가격의 작업실을 찾아 몰려든 작가들과 이들의 가능성을 파악한 중국 국내 및 외국자본에 의한 갤러리가 문을 열었고, 이들이 모여 이 지역을 활성화시키고 보다 많은 작가들에게 기회의 장을 마련해 주고자 처음 시작한 것이 "798예술제"이다. 이를 주도한 이가 798예술구를 만든 맏형인 '쉬용'과 '황루이' 이다. ● "艺象·幻彩(예술의 형태와 온도, 광선 등의 변화에 따라 물체의 원래 색깔이나 도안을 변화시킬 수 있는 신형 색채 제어 기술)" 이라는 전체 주제하에10주년을 맞아 다채로운 전시가 798 내의 창의광장 및 UCCA, PACE, 798스페이스 등에서 2012년9월22일부터 10월21일까지 열린다. 그 중 중요한 전시로는 798스페이스에서 열리는『10년간 포스터』展을 들 수 있다. 처음에 갖추어지지 않아 모든 것이 부족한 환경에서 지금은 세계각국에서 참여하는 예술제로 거듭난 변화를 있는 그대로 보여주는 다큐멘터리적인 전시로 참여작가 및 기획자들의 싸인이 더해진 일부 포스터는 이번 예술제에 참여하는 관계자 및 관람객 등에게 당시 참여자 혹은 익히 알려진 인물들을 기억해보는 좋은 기회가 될 것이다. 또, UCCA의『예술제』展, PACE에서는『리송송』展, 최근 몇 년간 전위적이고 실험적인 작품 등으로 주목 받고 있는 화이트박스에서는『依于仁, 游于艺(Magnanimity)』展등이 열린다. 또한 올해 특히 주목할 만한 전시는 서울옥션 북경사무소에서 열리는『"기(氣;energy), 흥(興;pleasure), 정(情;affection)"』으로 주최측인 798예술구관리위원회의 초대를 받아 열리는 한국작가전이다. 공간, 시각, 서정이란 키워드로 한국현대시각미술의 특징을 보여주고자 기획된 이 전시는 전통회화에 기초한 한국적 서정성을 개념미술로 평면에 담아내는 김동기(金東基 ; KIM DONG GI)와 미디어아트의 소통방식에 새로운 장을 열었다고 평가되는 이이남(李二男 ; LEE LEE NAM) 이들 두 작가를 통해 일관된 하나의 기조보다는 세계 속에 어필할 수 있는 가장 한국적인 다양성의 문화특징을 보여주고자 한다. ■ 이장욱

"氣, 興, 情" ● 笔者现在在韩国以外的国家生活工作, 经常被问道的问题是："什么是韩国文化的特征？"虽然不可能用简单的几句话来说明, 不过可以简单的把韩国文化特征表现为"气", "兴", "情"三个字。韩国人开朗、敏捷、勤奋, 即很有热血。这种民族特征为基础, 从6.25战争的废墟到汉江的奇迹, 都是富有热血的民族特性所放射出来的动力效应。中国文献中记载, 朝鲜半岛的三国时期（高句丽, 新罗, 白济）的韩民族喜欢饮酒和歌舞。感性且艺能感发达, 喜欢"兴"。也有人认为控制人类感性的右脑发达的民族中有我们韩民族。而且又带有强烈"情"感的民族。那么从视觉文化的观点来看会是如何呢? 我们不能随便地简单下定义, 但可以牵强地整理为："氣"是发生在空间里的, "興"是通过色彩而发的, "情"则是通过抒情而传达的。空间, 色彩和抒情为主题语言, 欲表达韩国现代视觉艺术的特征。 之所以用这几个意义"巨大"的词, 不是单一地表现韩国现代美术特性, 而是预想多样地表现。比起一贯的统一基调, 更希望从多角度探索韩国同时代的、动感文化特征。这次的展览要通过2位处于韩国同时代的艺术家, 展现给大家传统与现代双面的韩国但带艺术作品。一个是把作品在平面的传统绘画基础上, 进行现代性的改变的代表艺术家金东基, 他的作品和很多的艺术家和很多的作品的展示有很大的不同。另一个是利用我们日常生活中可以经常接触到的媒体, 创作出新媒体艺术的李二男艺术家。 1. 空间 作为年轻的全球化艺术家, 通过展览空间的安排, 探讨东亚的混合文化, 探讨对韩国韩国社会关系, 探讨网络世界和现实社会产生混淆的社会关系。 2. 色彩 城市华丽的摩天楼象征着现代文明的极限, 韩国色彩欲展示现实中最具现代性的色面绘画和装饰性如何在今天碰撞并变化着的过程。 3. 抒情 用艺术表现环境和机械文明, 并把韩国传统的抒情性通过水墨画形象表现, 韩国忧伤通过传画表现, 离别的恐惧在白纸状态下表现淡淡的视觉和想象力。无论如何, 这会式一个同时展现一贯性、多样性的全方位立体的展览。 ■ 李章旭

"Energy, Pleasure, Affection" ● A question foreigners ask overseas is "What's the main feature of Korean culture?" It is hard to define in a word, but it may be 'energy, pleasure, and affection'. Korean people are usually vivacious, fast, diligent, and dynamic. That is, we have strong energy. Based on this energy and dynamism, we created the 'Miracle on the Han River' from the ashes of the Korean War. Chinese historical records of the Samhan period of Korean history (Proto-Three Kingdoms period) state Samhan (Korea) people "enjoy drinking, singing, and dancing." We often feel interested and excited thanks to an evolved sensibility. Scientific research shows Korean people is a race with an evolved right brain, affecting our sensibilities. Koreans are also affectionate people. How can this be seen from a visual cultural perspective? Although the problem cannot be defined simply, I absurdly stipulate it as "energy is generated in space, pleasure is exuded through color, and affection is moved through lyricism." I showcase the features of contemporary Korean visual art through keywords such as space, color sense, and lyricism. I employ these macroscopic words to display features of contemporary Korean art from diverse perspectives, not in a uniform way. The show is not dependent on displaying numerous artworks by numerous artists. It is to explore Korea's dynamic cultural characteristics of the times from various angles through work by Kim Dong-gi, representative Korean painter, who has evolved traditional Korean painting with modern idioms, and work by Lee Lee-nam, a representative Korean media artist. 1. Space: Conceptual work created with young, internationalized senses, not pre-existing trends of thought and ways, explores the context of East Asian hybrid culture where the cyber world is confused with reality. The space is utilized as a place for materializing Kim Dong-gi's painting and use of new materials, and communication with Lee Lee-nam's media art. 2. Color sense: The exhibition shows splendid skyscrapers in a metropolis symbolizing the extremes of contemporary civilization, plus modern color-field painting and ornamental qualities meeting a Korean color sense, with changes imbuing today. 3. Lyricism: The exhibition intends to encapsulate traditional Korean lyricism, ink form, Korean sorrow, and fear of parting with placid perspective and imagination, representing the environment and mechanic civilization in art. I'd like to hold a three-dimensional, multifaceted exhibition simultaneously showing consistency and diversity. ■ Lee Janguk
