Monolog / 독백 ● 긴 시간동안 독백을 한다. 나에게 작업은 삶의 독백과도 같은 과정을 통하여 얻어진 결과물들이다. 늘 상 독백 속에 살아왔고 또 그러하리라. 예술가는 독백의 방법과 그것을 통하여 드러나는 결과가 곧 그의 삶과 작품에 고스란히 남겨지는 것이 아닌가 생각한다. ● 나의 독백들은 주관적인 감성의 읊조림과 시각의 방향을 드러내는 대화로서의 독백 / 이상적인 것들과 현실적인 부조화에서 파생되는 파열음 같은 독백 / 사랑을 하듯 달콤한 언어를 만들어내는 혼자만의 중얼거림 / 새로운 유희를 만들어 내기위한 자작극 같은 묵상들 / 고독과 마주한 삶의 여행자로서의 고요한 외침 / 하릴없는 기다림과도 같은 창백한 고백 등... 모두가 작업과 연관 지어질 수밖에 없는 독백들이다. 그런 독백들은 부딪치고, 깨지고 합해져서 하나의 맥락으로 드리워지길 바란다. ■ 김건주

독백의 지층 ● 김건주 작가는 조각적 재현의 가능성을 품은 다양한 변주의 언어들을 독백한다. 그 독백은 문자를 닮아 언어와 소리로 다양한 메아리의 이미지가 되어 여러 겹의 풍경을 만들어낸다. 또 외부세계와 마찰한 파장의 부서진 파편들이 하나하나 쌓이고 겹을 이뤄 깊고 낮음의 굴곡과 선율의 완급이 응축된 형상을 자아낸다. 형상의 표면상, 각 문자가 어우러지고 겹쳐지며 발견되는 여러 구성의 단면들이 제각기 영역을 가지는 다양한 컬러로 등장한다. 그것은 문자의 의미와 모양, 전달되는 형식의 여러 겹이 다양한 공간을 자연스럽게 생성하는 것이다. 또한, 각 공간의 영역이 가지는 컬러는 다양한 독백의 언어가 마치 어떠한 상대와 조우하느냐에 따라 의미의 변화와 공간 혹은 여백이 되는가를 암시하게 된다. 작가의 형식은 독백에 가깝고 그 태도는 삶에 기생하는 다양한 사물과 관계하는 여러 구성의 아름다움을 채집하는 방식에 가깝다. 형식보다 방식으로 더욱 포괄하는 예술가의 독백은 시적인 요소-함축적인 은유의 향연-가 선두에 있고, 그 시적인 언어들은 김건주의 예술로 흡수되어 조각가의 조형언어로 등장하게 된다.

근작의 경우 문자의 유연한 상태를 조형적으로 재현하였다면, 이번 작품들은 언어가 가지는 직접적인 드러남에서 시작되어 독백언어의 지층으로 쌓이는 새로운 드러남과 숨겨짐의 조형미학이 등장하고 있다. 작가의 독백이 주는 작품의 파장을 어떠한 방식으로 표피의 컬러와 공간, 그리고 감동을 누려야 하는가? 작가가 던져 준 독백의 힘이 얼마만큼 전달되어 오는가에 대해 생각하지 않을 수 없다. 작가와 작품, 관람자의 상관구도에서 작가의 독백은 우리에게 또 다른 지점이라 할 것이다. 작가는 자신의 창작물을 보여주는 데 있어, 자신의 감성과 감각의 언어들이 현실로 실현되기까지 아이러니하게도 상대가 없는 자신 혼잣말의 구도인 독백을 하고 있다. 하지만 독백이라는 성질에 따르면 독백은 이미 다수의 사람이 작가의 이야기를 작가의 기준으로 모두 한꺼번에 받아들일 준비를 하고 있다는 것이다. 그렇다면 작가의 독백은 전달의 의미를 넘어 인지의 상태에서 다양한 언어로 실행 가능한 것을 이미 전달하고 있었다는 것이다. 마치 작가는 자신의 이야기를 하며 자신만의 중얼거림 내지는 혼잣말, 독백이라고 명명한 채, 그 작가의 혼잣말을 관람자는 혼잣말로 인식하고 작가의 입장으로 받아들이는 것이다. 작가와 관람자의 태도가 가장 중요한 지점임이 밝혀지는 대목이다. 강요에 의한 이해와 이해받는 관계가 아닌, 각각의 위치와 태도, 삶과 환경에서 발휘되고 인지되는 것들 사이에 대한 다양한 이해와 방법의 이야기, 독백이다.

단어나 짧은 독백의 문장으로 자신을 앞장세워 심리처방을 내리듯이 다양한 형상으로 독백의 조각을 완성한다. 김건주의 독백에서 모두의 이야기로 전달되는... 개인의 독백에서 모두의 이해와 독백처럼 웅성거리는... 독백에서 독백으로 전달되는... 독백의 지층이 만들어 내는 풍경... 여기서 우리는 김건주가 지독히 개인적인 독백 형식의 단순한 사용이 아닌 모든 관계의 믿음에서 믿음으로 자연스러워지는 순간임을 형상으로 바라보게 된다. 그것은 김건주가 작품에 언급한 독백인 '내가 만들어 가는 것인지. 나를 만들어 가는 것이지.'에 대한 해답이기도 하다. ■ 김재원

Monologues are long hours. Work is results that is gotten through process like monolog of life to me. And it will be always lived in a monologue. Artist thinks if result that is detected through method and it of monolog is not left soon completely in his life and work. ●That mutter of only one person who my monologs coin sweetish language as monologs as that recite and conversation that expose direction of sight of subjective sensitivity or do derivative plosive same monolog / love in ideal things and realistic collision / as traveler of life that is opposite with viscount pole same meditations / solitude doing on bet making new amusements quiet shout / pale confession etc.. like unavoidable that wait .. Everybody are work and connection monologs that can not but be indited. Such monologs want to be hanged down by one veins strike, and are woken and unite. ■ KIMKUNJU MONOLOGUE ● The stratum of monologue : The Artist, Kim KunJu, menologies various variations of languages embracing the possibilities of sculptural reproduction. The monologue is similar to letters and becomes various images of echoing with language and sound to create several layers of landscape. And as the broken pieces of the impact having friction with the outer world are accumulated one after one to form layers, a figure in which the curve with varied depth and melody with different tempo are condensed is created. On the surface of the figure, as each of the letters gets harmonized and overlapped, various sections with different compositions are found as varied colors having their own unique area. It is that the several layers of the meanings and shapes of the letters and the forms of delivery generate various spaces naturally. Also, the color that each area of the space exhibits implies with his it becomes the changes of meaning, space, or the blank according to which opponent the language of various monologues encounters. ● The form that the artist takes is like monologue, and his attitude is close to the way to collect the beauty of various compositions associated with diverse objects that are parasitic on life. In the artist's monologue covering it further with a method rather than a form, the poetic element – the feast of implicative metaphor – takes the initiative. And the poetic languages are absorbed to Kim Kun Ju's art and appear as the sculptor's formative language. Though his recent works reproduce the flexible status of the letters formatively, these works of his start from the direct exposure of language and appear as the new formative aesthetics of showing and hiding that is accumulated as the stratum of monological language. ● How can the impact of the work provided by the artist's monologue enjoy the color of the surface, space, and impression? We cannot help thinking how much of the power of the monologue that the artist throws is delivered to us. In the relative structure of the artist, his work, and the viewers, his monologue can be said to be another point for us. In the artist's showing of his creation, ironically, he users monologue, the structure of murmuring with no one to talk to, until his emotion and sensual languages are manifested in reality. However, according to the features of monologue, in monologue, there are already many people who are about to accept the artist's story all at once from the criteria of the artist. If so, the artist's monologue not just has the significance of delivery but also transmits what is feasible with various languages in the state of consciousness. As the artist talks about his story, he names it as his own murmuring or talking to himself, or monologue and the viewers recognize the artist's murmuring as monologue and accept the artist's position. This is the part where the attitudes of the artist and the viewers are the most crucial point. It is not the relationship that one understands and is understood forcibly, but it is the story of various understandings and methods, the monologue, about each one's position and attitude and what is exhibited and recognized in life and environment. ● In this exhibition, the artist tried to embody the language of monologue that he recites with his mental state, mind, and spirit. he completes the pieces of monologue with various figures. In Kim KunJu's monologue, it is delivered as a story of all... The personal monologue murmurs as if it were all's understanding or monologue... it is delivered from monologue to monologue... The scenery created by the stratum of monologue... Here, we can see that Kim Kun Ju does not simply use the form of severely private monologue but it is the moment when it becomes natural from trust to trust among all relations via figures. It is also the answer for 'if I make it or it makes me' which is the monologue mentioned by him in his work. ■ KIMJAEWON
