Kalokagathia - Verbum Vitae et Lumen Scientiae ● 임소아의 작품세계는 예술의 영원성에 대한 철학적 사색과 최상의 아름다움이 내재된 기하학적 주제를 구현하는데 있다. 그가 예술적 사유의 방식으로 오랫동안 천착해온 수직선과 수평선 그리고 사각형의 형태가 주류를 이루고 있는 대다수 그의 작품들은 이미 독일 미술계에서 컬렉션의 스펙트럼을 상당히 넓혀놓았으며 현재 독일에 살면서 작업하는 젊은 작가들 가운데서도 두드러지는 개성과 존재감을 발산하며 20년의 세월 동안 변함없이 주목을 받아오고 있다. 이번 초대전에서 작가는 사물의 본질과 존재의 근본 원리를 직관에 의해서 탐구되는 절제된 기하학의 아름다움을 냉철하게 관조하는 작업들을 선보인다. 그리하여 그는 대상을 완벽하게 분석하고 회화의 물리적 공간을 확대하는 작업방식으로 형이상학적 패러다임을 완성하고 있다.

이번 전시에서 작가는 기하학적인 형태와 반복되는 색채의 표현을 통해서 우리가 보는 사물들 속에는 모든 것을 관통하는 보편적인 본질이 내재해 있으며 그 본질은 궁극적으로 융합된 상태를 이루는 순수한 조형적 아름다움과 더불어 작품에서의 조화와 균형의 이슈를 점검 하고 있다. 임소아 작업 방식의 풍부성은 일상생활 속에서의 갈등과 한계에서 인간의 눈에 보여 지는 것 보다는 보이지 않는 것 에서의 정신적인 세계를 추구하는 인간의 감정들을 순수한 기하학적 형상으로 표현하고 있다. 작가가 작업노트에서도 언급하듯이 단순화된 기하학적인 요소들은 인간들의 삶처럼 현실의 공간 속에서 존재하고 있다. 현재 우리가 존재하고 있는 삶의 공간에서 전시장 관람객들에게 그 공간에서 형성되는 인간들과의 갈등과 정체성 그리고 주변 환경과의 관계가 현실적인 삶의 공간에서 어떠한 형식으로 표출 되는지에 관하여 작가 특유의 예술적 관점에서 심도 있게 고찰하고 있다.

Kalokagathia - Verbum Vitae et Lumen Scientiae ● The theme of So-Ah Yim's artistic world is the philosophical meditation of the eternity of art and the materialization geometric themes that include the supreme beauty. Most of her artistic works that consist mostly of vertical lines, horizontal lines, and squares, have been widening the spectrum of the collection in the German art circles. Living in Germany, she has had an outstanding characteristic and presence among young artistis and has been under the spotlihgt of the German artistic scene for the past 20 years. At this invitation exhibition, she shows works that philosophically contemplate the beauty of restricted geometry based on the exploration of the essense of objects and fundamental principles of existence by intuition. As such, Yim completes a metaphysical paradigm in the way of perfect analysis of objects and expansion of the physical space of painting. ● Through the works showcased in this exhibition, Yim shows universal essence included in all objects seen by us, through the expression of geometric shapes and repeated colors. She reflects the issue of harmony and balance in works, along with the essence, which is the pure formative beauty that constitutes the untimately converged status. Yim's works richly express human emotions that persue a spiritual world in the invisible, rather than things seen by human eyes in everyday conflicts and limitations. As mentioned in the artist's note, simplified geometric elements exist in real space like lives of human beings. For spectators of the exhibition, in what forms the conflicts between people, their identities, and the realtions with the surrounding environment in the real living space in which we exisit now are expressed, is contemplated in-depth with the artisit's unique artistic perspective. ● The tetragonal formative images in So-Ah Yim's works are the symbol of the order of the space and the human world and the descriptive space that reflects the future of the humanity. In this way, her works create perfect space aesthetics that transcends time and space. Yim, currently living in Hamburg, Germany, has been continuoulsy pursuing a philosophical feature of painting that is poetic with contemplation of simplified forms of objects based on sophisticated observation and seriousness, where beauty and order co-exist. The foundation for her work has been restrained metaphysical features of paintings. The tetragonal space expressed in her works is infinite persuit of the optimal and perfect order and eternity. The composition of colors and formative shpaes that fill the space on the canvass connotes all thins that are possible outside of the boundary of painting. As such, Yim has an outstanding sense that enables elevation of daily images into an aesthetic dimension, through pure visual beauty and delicate approach with colors. ● At this invitiation exhibition, Yim shows visual elegance with beautiful colors and restrained lines in an artistic space of exploration that goes beyond time and space, with the perfect formative beauty from beautiful and deep space, which presents freedom from formal logical mechanism of objects. That starts from the artist's personal and subjective relationships and is expressed by objective and narrative features of relationship, which makes her artisitic world face with the domain of philosophical meditation. Her works are expressed as an infinite space that co-exist with the stream of consciousness connected with a sort of net of logic, rather than exploration of the depth of an expected common sense theme.
