불가능한 '우리' ● 예술가 창작지원과 더불어 금천예술공장에 주어진 다른 숙제는 '예술을 통한 지역재생'이었다. 그리고 민선 5기 새로운 시정은 '마을공동체의 회복'을 이야기하기 시작했다. 대상은 '지역(region)'에서 '커뮤니티(community)'로 비슷한 듯 다르게 비켜나갔다. 커뮤니티의 시대. 공동체의 회복. 근대성에 대한 보완 또는 대안으로 던져진 '공동체'로의 전세계적 시류에 닿아있던 금천예술공장은 2009년 개관연도부터 '커뮤니티'에 대한 숙제를 짊어졌고 지금은 오히려 더 커졌다. ● 그리고 오픈스튜디오라는, 입주작가에게 1년 거주에 대한 숙제 발표회는 돌아왔다. 미리 받은 약간의 제작지원비로 신작도 보여주고, 두세 팀이 모였지만 사실은 각자의 작품들이 '하나'의 이름 아래 모인다. '협업'은 개인의 것과 다른 것일 테니까, 새로운 것일 테니까. 그리고 19팀의 작업을 몽땅 쏟아 부을 2012년 6월의 이 행사에, 이 전시에, 공통의 이름을 붙이는데 어려움을 겪는다. 이 각자인, 지극히 '자기 자신'으로밖에 환원되지 않는 예술가들 혹은 작업에 '공통의 것'이 있었던가? 혹은 그들의 활동에 희미하게라도 어떤 연대의식이 생성되었던가? ● 그러기엔 그들에게 '우리'는 너무나 희박하다. 이들은 가족의 기대를 배신하고, 생활의 의무를 져버리고 오직 '자신을 구현하기 위해' 살기로 작정한, 그 뼛속까지 '오직 자신'이 아니던가. 그런 그들에게 '우리'라고 이름붙일 수 있는가. 혹은 그들은 그 자신만으로 설명되어선 안되는가.

'커뮤니티'의 피로감에도 불구하고 ● 이들 3기 입주작가는 2011년 9월 이후 한 곳에 모여, '커뮤니티아트'로든 '도시리서치'로든 같은 주제의 숙제를 부여받고, 같은 명함도 갖는다. 내부 지원프로그램인 '커뮤니티아트 프로젝트'에 지극히 개인적인 작업을 지원한 누군가는 떨어졌다. 레지던시 스튜디오 1, 2, 3층에 1년을 모여 살며 마주치기 싫어 피해다니기도 한다. 이들에게 주어진 '소통'에 대한 피로, '커뮤니티'의 의무. 이런 피로감에도 불구하고 개인성의 '근대'는 공동체적 소통을 통해 보완될 수 있다고 요즘 다들 믿는다. '환상'은 유지되어야 하는가? '공동체'는 정말 대안인가? '공공성'을 딛고 선 이 스튜디오에서 이들의 '자신으로밖에 환원될 수 없는' 작업은 부족한 것인가? 그들의 발언을 2012년 6월 28일 듣는다. ■ 김희영

□ 3기 입주작가 오픈스튜디오 : 2012.6.28.목 - 7.1.일 10am - 6pm 프로그램1 : 미술대학 협업 프로젝트 ' 제대로 된 오픈스튜디오 ⓒ 한국기획' 한국예술종합학교 미술이론 전문사, 국민대 미술이론 대학원생 8인과 입주작가 8팀을 매칭하여 작가의 스튜디오를 작업의 확장으로 기획 구성한다. 기존 오픈스튜디오의 통상적인 형식을 벗어나 기획하였다. 프로그램2 : 주민 도슨트 프로그램 '예술공장 스캔들 2' (진행:금천미세스) 지역 주민에 의한, 주민을 위한 작가와 주민과의 대화 프로그램으로 입주작가 김보중, 도나 한(Donna Han)과 6/29, 6/30 2회 진행될 예정이다.

□ 기획전시 '계속되는 예술, 불가능한 공동체' : 2012.6.28.목 - 7.20.금 10am - 6pm 프로그램1 : 입주작가 토크프로그램 '안나 모레노-아트토크:급진적인 페이지' 현대미술계에 이슈가 되는 대안미술 관련 다양한 토픽을 바탕으로 진행하는 예술가․전문가․주민의 아트토크 자리로 전시 기간 중 3회 진행될 예정이다.

□ 오프닝 : 2012.06.28.목 6pm 퍼포먼스1 : '안데스-패션쇼' 낡은 것, 촌스러운 것에서 숨겨진 가치를 찾기 위해 벼룩시장에서 구입한 몸빼 바지와 낡은 츄리닝을 조화시켜 선보이는 입주작가 안데스의 패션쇼이다. 퍼포먼스2 : '임흥순-경매: 위기의 물건들' 입주작가 임흥순의 작품과 물건, 지역커뮤니티 금천미세스의 사적인 물건을 바탕으로 한 실제 경매사와 함께하는 매우 사적인 경매 퍼포먼스를 진행한다. 퍼포먼스3 : '에어로프로트(옥인 콜렉티브, 미켈란젤로 피스똘레또 밴드, 믹스라이스) 퍼포먼스파티' 혹평이 많은 러시아 항공사 '에어로프로트(Аэрофлот, aeroflot)'에 긴장과 모험을 갖고 타는 탑승객처럼 우리가 살고 있는 사회현상들에서 부딪히는 난감한 접점들을 소재로 진행한다. 스크리닝과 함께 에어로프로트 팀(입주작가 믹스라이스, 옥인콜렉티브, 미켈란젤로 피스똘레또 밴드 협업)의 코스튬 플레이와 파티가 진행된다. 퍼포먼스4 : '금천미세스-요리나눔 퍼포먼스' 지역커뮤니티 금천미세스의 준비한 요리를 전시관람객, 인근 산업체․식당․주민에게 음식을 나눠준다.

* 전문가 비지팅 : 입주작가&전문가 1:1토크 (비공개) 오픈스튜디오 오프닝 전 사전 오프닝 프로그램으로 미술관, 언론, 비평, 갤러리 등 분야전문가 5인을 초청하여 입주작가와 미술계전문가의 면담기회를 제공한다.

Continuous Art, Impossible Community ● Impossible 'us' Another assignment given to the Seoul Art Space Geumcheon was 'local regeneration through art' along with support for artists' creation. And new Seoul Metropolitan Government elected by the fifth popular vote begins talking about 'restoration of village communities'. The object pursued from 'region' to 'community' is steered similarly yet differently. As joining in the worldwide current an age of community, recovery of the community, and 'community' as a supplement or an alternative to modernity, Seoul Art Space_Geumcheon has undertaken an assignment for communities since its inauguration in 2009 and is responsible even bigger at present. ● Now, under the name of the Open Studio, time is back for presentation on the assignment to resident artists during their one year-long working. At the event they show their works with supported fund in advance, and, although two or three teams worked together, actually each different work was assemble to be created under the 'one title.' 'Collaborative work' would be different from a work by individuals and be a new work. And they have trouble to give the common title of works in this event, in this exhibition in June of 2012 where works from 19 teams are brought all together. Is there something 'common' in those artists or their works that are in this each individual or only return to the 'ultimate themselves?' Or was any sense of solidarity formed through their activities or even faint? ● And, to do so, becoming 'us' is weak sense to the artists. They are beings who are determined to live only 'to embody themselves' and are 'only themselves' to the bone. Could we name 'us' to such them? Or could they not be described only as themselves? Despite fatigue from the 'community' ● This third-term residency artists have been working on the assignment with the similar theme since September 2011. Some ones who applied extremely personal project to the internal support program, 'community art project' were not accepted. While staying same residency building for one year, some artists would avoid encountering one another. Despite this fatigue, such as their tiredness for communication and obligation for the 'community', they all believe recently 'modernity' of individuality can be supplemented by communal understanding. Should the 'fantasy' be maintained? Is it true the 'community' is an alternative? Is the work 'only return to oneself' insufficient in this studio standing on the 'public'? ● We will hear their thoughts on June 28, 2012. ■ Kim Hee-young

□ Open Studio for the 3rd term Residency Artists Date : 28th June ~ 1th July 2012 / 10:00am-6:00pm Lacation : Seoul Art Space_Geumcheon Program 1 : The collaboration project with art colleges, 'A properly organized open studio ⓒ HanKook Project' The studios are designed to be an extension of work by matching eight teams of residency artists with eight graduate students majored in Art Theory from Korea National University of Arts and Kookmin University. The open studio is planned to break away from conventional mode. Program 2 : The docent program of Geumcheon residents, 'Art Space Scandal 2' (host by Geumcheon Mrs.) The Talk with Artists and Residents is a program by the residents and for the residents. The event is to be held in June 29th and 30th with residency artist Kim Bo-jung and Donna Han.

□ Exhibition 『Continuous Art, Impossible Community』 Date : 28th June ~ 1th July 2012 / 10:00am-6:00pm Lacation : Seoul Art Space_Geumcheon Program 1 : Talk Program with Residency Artist, 'Anna Moreno-Art Talk:Radical Colophon' This event is for discussions between artists, experts and local residents on diverse topics concerning alternative art which is issued in the Modern Art. The event is to be held three times during the exhibition.

□ Opening Performance 1 : Andeath-Fashion Show This fashion show planned by residency artist Andeath is a harmonious showcase of mompe (loose-fitting trousers worn by women engaged in hard labor) and training cloths purchased in a flea market, exploring the hidden value in the old and rural. Performance 2 : Im Heung Soon-Auction: Things in Crisis This event is a very private auction performance where a real auctioneer auctions residency artist Im Heung-soon's works and items, and Geumcheon Mrs.'s personal goods. Performance 3 : Aeroflot(Okin Collective, Michelangelo P. Band, Mixrice) -Performance Party This performance addresses difficult social phenomena in our society by contact points, as if passengers use Aeroflot, a notorious Russian airline, with tension and an adventurous mind. A costume play by the Aeroflot Team (Residency Artists of Mixrice, Okin Collective, and Michelangelo Pistoletto Band) and a party will be held along with a video screening. Performance 4 : Geumcheon Mrs.-Food Sharing Performance In the event, food prepared by Geumcheon Mrs. is handed out to viewers, nearby industry employees, restaurant workers, and residents.

* Expert Visiting: 1:1 talks between residency artists and experts (closed) Five experts including museum and gallery curators, critics and journalists are invited to the event, a pre-opening event in which they have the opportunity to interview residency artists.
