사단법인 한국예술문화단체총연합회(이하 한국예총)은 대한민국의 예술문화를 대표하는 단체로서 21c 예술문화의 시대를 맞아 시각예술분야에서 예술축제를 기획하여 미술시장에 활력을 주고 경제 발전에 공헌하고자 『F.A.C.O Art Festival』을 개최하게 되었다. 한국예총의 영문명의 약어를 활용한『F.A.C.O Art Festival 2012』(이하 파코)는 아트페어와 초대·기획전시의 성격을 복합적으로 사용한 신개념의 예술축제이다. 아트페어는 이미 국내외에서 다양한 방식으로 수년간 진행돼왔다. 국내에는 화랑협회에서 진행하는『KIAF 국제 아트페어』와『화랑미술제』가 많은 화랑의 참여로 이뤄지고 있으며,『MANIF 아트페어』는 예술가가 직접 부스를 꾸미고 전시하는 방식으로 개최되고 있다. 이 밖에 부산, 광주, 대구 등지에서 다양한 방식으로 아트페어가 개최되고 있다. 물론 모든 아트페어가 성공적인 개최로 이어지진 않았다. 2000년대 중반에 아시아 미술시장이 활황기를 누리기도 잠시, 미국발 '서브프라임 모기지'로 말미암아 국내 미술시장도 2000년 후반부터 침체 국면을 맞이했다. 하지만 대중의 문화에 대한 관심도가 증가하고 문화저변 확대가 급증하는 지금 참신한 기획력과 새로운 비전을 제시하는 예술가의 발굴은 반드시 필요하다. 이에 한국예총은 새로운 시도로서 파코 2012를 기획하기에 이르렀다. 이번 행사는 존재, 진화, 비전, 소통이라는 4가지 주제에 맞게 기획 되었으며, 행사가 진행되는 동안 세미나, 포럼 등을 통해 동시대 예술가로서 살아남는 방법에 대한 진지한 모색을 하는 기회를 마련할 것이다. 수시로 진행될 도슨트 프로그램은 난해한 작품의 이해를 돕고 대중과 소통하는 기회로 작용할 것이며, 이번 파코 2012를 통해 대중과 함께 문화예술을 향유하고 콘텐츠를 개발하여 지속적으로 발전시켜 사회·문화·예술·경제가 하나로 융합되는 새로운 예술문화를 창조하게 될 것이다. ● 미술현장의 산증인인 원로예술가들의 초대로 이뤄지는 파트이다. 원로예술가의 존재로 인해 국내 예술문화가 역사의 안길로 진입한 것은 부인할 수 없을 것이다. 우리의 존재를 되짚고 역사를 만들어가는 발걸음이 될 것이라 본다. ● 원로예술가들에 의해 미술문화의 씨가 심어지고 싹이 돋았다면 확장과 변혁을 가능케 한 중견예술가의 역할을 한국미술의 견인차가 되었다. 중견예술가들의 약진을 소개함으로서 미술문화의 진화와 발전에 대한 측면을 확인하게 될 것이다. ● 모더니즘과 포스트모더지즘의 역사가 지나고 지금은 동시대미술의 장이 열렸다. 이제 예술의 형식과 태도를 가늠하는 기준이 급변하고 있다. 세계간의 격차가 사라지는 시대에 젊은 예술가들이 열어가는 미래는 더욱이 새롭기만 하다. 젊은 예술가들의 발굴의 장이 될 것이며, 새로운 시대를 열고 미래에 대한 비전을 제시할 참신한 예술가의 발견을 기대해 본다. ● 국가 간의 격차가 사라지는 동시대미술은 지역과 지역, 국가와 국가 간의 소통이 필수조건으로 떠오르고 있다. 글로벌리즘에 입각한 국제적 예술가를 초청하여 해외예술가의 참여로 이뤄지게 될 것이며, 소통과 화합의 장이 될 것이다. ■

Purpose and Objective ● The Federation of Korean Arts(hereinafter referred to as "Federation") which is incorporated association is the group representing Korea's art culture. Greeting the era of art and culture of 21th centry, Federation plans to hold F.A.C.O Art Festival which is an art festival in the field of visual arts with the goal of invigorating art market and contributing to the national economy. F.A.C.O Art Festival 2012(hereinafter referred to as FACO) which stands for Federation is the art festival of new concept that compositively utilized characteristics of art fare and initial planned exhibition. Art fare has been already conducted for years in various methods. In Korea, 'Seoul Art Fare' and KIAF International Art Fare' hosted by Korea Galleries Association are held with participation of many galleries, and at 'MANIF Art Fare' artists directly decorate their booths display the works. Besides, art fares are held in a variety of ways in Busan, Gwangju, Daegu, and other cities. It's true that all the art fares do not necessarily turn out to be successful. After a short boom period of Asian art market in the mid 2000's, Korean art market has entered state of depression from the end of the 2000's due to the 'sub-prime mortgage' triggered in the US. However, in this era when public interest in culture is increasing and the base of culture is rapidly expanding, it is desperately needed to find artists who have novel planning ability and new vision. In this situation, Federation is planning the FACO 2012, as a new attempt. Will be exhibit their works in 4 topics which are existence, evolution, vision, and communication. During the exhibition, the opportunity of deliberating on ways to survive as an artists in the same era will be given. The Docent Program will help the audience better understand the esoteric works and make better communication with them. Through the PACO 2012, we will constantly share culture and art with the public and develop contents creating new art culture which blends society, culture, and economy. Existence and history ● This part consists of works of doyen artists who living witnesses of art field. It is undeniable that the doyen artists made Korean art culture enter the into its history. Will be the place where we can be reminded of our existence and make the history. Evolution and development ● If veteran artists sowed seeds of art culture and made them bud, veteran artists played the role of driving their expansion and transformation. Major leaps of the veteran artists will be introduced and art culture's innovation as well as development will be demonstrated. Vision and Future ● After modernism and post-modernism have passed, we living in the era of contemporary art. Now, the standard of judging form and attitude of art. when a gap between countries is disappearing like today, young artists will open newer future. The place of discovering young artists. Fresh and novel artists who will suggest vision for the future and open a new world is expected to be discovered. Communication and Harmony ● Communication between regions and countries is becoming essential in the contemporary art. Exhibiting the works of international artists based on globalism. Consists of works of foreign artists who will create the place of communication and harmony. ■
