붓 끝을 세우고 ● 색연필, 크레파스, 수채화붓, 유화붓, 아크릴붓, 마우스와 디지타이저. 서예붓, 수묵화붓… 때로는 재봉틀 바늘로 옷을, 일러스트도 그리고 바이올린 활도 그으며 기타를 치는 내 손톱 끝으로 세상을 담아내고 표현하였다. 돌고 돌아 다시 내 자리에서 마흔을 훌쩍 넘어 중반을 달리고 있는 내 모습을 본다. 사진 찍는 것이 싫고 흰 머리카락이 눈에 띄게 늘어나는 것도 싫어 거울보기도 두렵다. 다만 두렵지 않은 것이 있다면 붓 끝을 세우는 일뿐. 그 붓 끝의 흔적이 두려워 질지라도 붓끝을 세우는 일만큼은 두렵지 않다. 나를 찾았기 때문이다.

기와지붕의 곡선에서 오는 짜릿함! 암키와와 수키와가 만들어내는 음양의 오케스트라가 울려 퍼지면 진한 먹 향에 취해 하얀 종이 위를 종횡하며 지휘하는 붓놀림을 보게 된다. 용마루에서 내림마루 미끄럼틀을 타고 내려와 귀마루에 안착한 잡상들의 표정 또한 즐겁다. 가끔은 암막새와 수막새 그림자 속에 숨어있는 서까래 끝의 꽃무늬 단청이 왜 자기는 표현해주지 않느냐고 앙탈을 부리는 것 같다.

포스트 모던적 어울림 (근정전) ● 유홍준님의 『나의 문화유산 답사기6』중에 근정전 앞마당의 박석에 대한 예찬이 있다. "마치 조각보를 만들듯 불규칙하게 생긴 넓적한 박석을 촘촘히 이어 붙였는데 그 자연스럽게 흐트러진 선이 높직한 월대의 수직, 수평선, 그리고 근정전 처마의 가녀린 곡선과 환상적으로 어울린다. 불규칙한 선, 기하학적인 직선과 수평선 그리고 처마의 곡선과 북악산, 인왕산의 자연스러운 능선의 어울림은 어느 미국 평론가의 말대로 포스트모던 적인 어울림이다." -『나의 문화유산답사기 6』 34p- 이 글을 읽고 근정전 앞마당에 다시 가보지 않을 수 없었고 그림으로 그려낼 수밖에 없었다.

덕혜옹주를 기리며 (창덕궁 낙선재) ● 단청이 없는 궁궐안의 궁궐, 고종의 고명딸 덕혜옹주가 28년 동안 살다 생을 마감한 곳이다. 『덕혜옹주』책을 읽고 난 후 가엾이 살다간 조선의 마지막 공주인 덕혜옹주를 기리며 그녀의 삶이 깃든 추억의 장소를 그렸다. ■ 박문주

Starting with a brush in hand... ● With color pencils, crayons, Brushes for water color, oil painting, and acrylic, A mouse and a digitizer. Calligraphy brushes, and oriental painting brushes... Making clothes with the needles, Drawing Illustrations, Playing the violin and guitar with the tip of my fingernail, I tried to capture and depict my world. I looked back on myself, Returning to my place after Wandering far away and many times, In my mid forties. I hate my picture being taken, and My gray hairs getting richer and richer. I am afraid to see myself in the mirror. Only with the brushes in my hand Can I feel calmed. Even though I am afraid of the race my brushes left behind, I am not fearing my brushes being ready for my work. For I finally found myself. ● Thrill from the curve tiled roof! When the harmony of yin and yang coming From convex and concave tiles Resounds itself, I can see myself drawing on the white paper, Absorbed in thick scent of ink. I see their pleasantness in various statues' visages Settling on hip After sliding along the ridge of a roof. Sometimes hidden under the shadow of tiles at the edge of eaves. Flower drawings of Dancheong at the tip of the rafter Seem pouting about her being ignored. ● There is a praise of the arch-stones in the front yard of Geunjeongjeon in the "Exploration 6 of Cultural Heritage" by Yoo Hong-jun. It is just like a patchwork of irregularly-shaped wide and flat arch-stones closely attached to each other, and its naturally disorderly lines fantastically match the vertical and horizontal lines of high platforms and curves of thin eaves of Geunjeongjeon. The irregular lines, geometric straight lines and the curves of eaves represent postmodern harmony with natural ridge of Mt. Inwang, as an American critic says. -"Exploration 6 of Cultural Heritage" by Yoo Hong-jun, p34- After reading the book, I went to the front yard of Geunjeongjeon again without even realizing it, and couldn't help drawing this picture. ● That re-enacts it on white paper, reflecting on those days when I visited cultural relics holding a child by the hand. Enjoying expressing what is seen, and remembering it as the oldest main gate of a palace ever, I painted the main Gate of the Changdeuk Palace representing a nontypical beauty of sculpture of the most Korean palace architecture. ● The deepest of the Palace with no Dancheong, traditional multicolored paintwork on it is where Prince Deukhye, a daughter of King Gojong, lived for 28 years until her death. After reading a book titled "Princess Deukhye," the last princess of Korea, I portrayed a place which has memories of her life in honor of her poor life. ■ PARKMUNJU
