'Real Fantasy'实在的幻境

사람들이 원하는 건, 실재의 삶이 아니다, 실재의 삶은 마주하고 나면 더 잔인하기에 사람들은 이상의 나를 세워놓고, 그 이상치가 자신의 실재의 삶도 구성한다는 환타지를 가진다. 즉, 사람이란, 조작되거나 만들어진 현실 속에서, 자신을 착각하는 것이다. 마치 빈 건물과 같고, 영혼의 껍데기인 육체와 같다. 과연 진실이란 건 있을까. 가두고 강제하는 것들을 제외하고 나면 과연 '나' 라는 존재가 남아 있는지 궁금해졌다. (2012년 1월 작가노트 중)

「real fantasy」는 2010년 가을 무렵부터 시작된 사진과 설치의 혼합작품이다. 중국에서 내가 거주하던 지역에서 얼마 떨어지지 않은 곳에는 지어지다 만, 유럽식 건축양식의 단지가 굉장히 오랫동안 방치되고 있었다. 나는 그 건물들을 바라보면서, 사람의 아무런 흔적이 담겨있지 않지만 비정상적으로 아름다워 보이는 빈 건물들 사이로 지금 발을 딛고 있는 실재의 나와 내 이상 속에서 존재하는 듯한... 건물로 치자면 새집과 오래된 집과 같은 괴리감, 그리고 마치 영화처럼 스쳐 지나가는 혼재된「낯섬」을 느꼈다. 그리고 이 낯선 경험을 가지고 주변을 둘러보니, 많은 곳이, 이런 상태로 방치되어 있었고 중국의 경제발전과 건축 붐으로 많은 곳이 아직 채워지지 않은 채 이렇게 텅 비어져 있었는데 그 까닭이야 내가 깊이는 알 순 없지만, 중요한 것은, 일전에 식탁작품을 진행하면서 느꼈던, 그 부재감과 사람이 머물다 지나간 자리, 혹은 사람이 채워지지 않은 자리의 흔적에서 유추하는 가상의 삶, 미래정원의 가상으로 만들어진 세계 등, 삶이 가진 거짓과 진실의 교묘한 줄타리기의 느낌을 이 곳이 가지고 있었다는 점이다.

실제의 삶을 구성하거나 재현하거나 방식에 있어서 나의 방식은 억압과 분출, 현실과 이상의 괴리감을 표현할 수 있는 한 가장 정직하게 드러내는 것이다. 중앙의 설치물은 자연과 인공, 현실과 이상의 사이 어디쯤이다. 억압하고 강제하는 듯한 구조물, 그리고 살아 있지 않은 도시의 잔재물, 둘은 같은 나무지만, 이 사이를 넘나드는 듯한 오브제로, 빈 건물과 같은 경계에 놓여 있다고 볼 수 있다. 이번 작품은 최대한 간결하고, 단순해야만 했다. 많은 걸 보일 수도 , 풀어내놓을 수도... 기존의 파이프 작품과는 아주 다른 방식으로 진행해야만 했는데, 파이프-blooming young art 작품은 공간의 확장성을 기반으로 뻗어나가면서 공간 자체를 작품화했지만 이 번 작품은 거친 자재를 최대한 그대로 드러내놓으면서도 과하거나 지나치지 않도록 용접 자리 하나 까지도 신경을 써야만 했다. Situation of space, Through surrounding, Is reconstructed every timeand, Is having scene of action that work is completed through process that extension and composition transformation are established to space because is attained. 3. Blooming young art-garden (2005-2008), Flower and floral tribures, A night etc. Is splendid and beautiful as the garden of imagination forming on natural constituent, Enviroment division sight which private desire is physical as the world of imagination which attain all adulterously, Wish to talk how act by idea. 4.
