The Starry Night

어느 날 불현듯 찾아오는 불안한 감정의 실체는 낮보다는 밤에 엄습한다. 이런 정서적 기호가 지극히 개인적인 것일 수도 있다. 하지만 사람들은 스스로 자기 마음을 알 수 없을 때 상징적인 무엇인가에 집중하게 되며 그것들로부터 위안을 받는다. 개인적의 밤의 의미는 아무것도 보이지 않는 시간이 아니라 내가 보고 싶은 것만 볼 수 있는 공간형성이 가능한 시간을 의미한다. ● 나의 불안한 감정은 환경적 요인인 공간으로부터 생겨나왔다. 낯선 장소, 사람들, 소리, 냄새 등과 같은 환경이 주는 개인적인 불안한 감정이, 시간이 지나면 익숙해져 기억 속 그리움으로 남고, 또 다시 일정한 시간이 지난 후 낯설어 지는 순환적 감정인 '언캐니'의 경험을 담았다.

「The starry night」는 밤이 주는 개인적인 공간과 그 안에 밀려드는 정의하지 못하고 형용하지 못하는 갖가지 감정을 표현하였다. 자연의 밤이라는 검은 공간을 거대한 스튜디오로 활용하여 나타내려고 하는 오브제에 직접 전구를 설치하여 필름 안에 빛으로 그림을 그리는 방법의 아날로그적 표현방법을 하였다. 사진 안에는 두 개의 공간이 존재한다. 익숙한 기억의 풍경인 전구를 설치 하기 전의 풍경과 개인적 감정을 흩뿌려 표현한 전구를 설치 한 후의 공간이다. 이 두 공간의 빛이 합쳐서 신비한 풍경을 만들어 낸다.

나의 불안한 마음과는 달리 밤하늘은 잠을 자고 있었다. 하늘은 고요 했고, 어두운 곳에서 더욱 고운 빛을 내었다. 별은 더욱 반짝였으며 자연의 것들은 그렇게 은은하게 퍼져있었다. 불안한 마음을 밤하늘에 표현함으로써 스스로 감정을 덜어내고 위안을 받는 행위는 온전히 나의 마음에 집중 할 수 있는 시간이었다. ■ 이은열

The reality of emotion that is unexpectedly appearing one day surges in the night rather than daytime. Although this kind of emotional symbol is extremely private, people tend to concentrate on something symbolic and to be comforted from them. In my view, the meaning of night is a time when only space that I want to see could be created. ● My anxiety is originated from environmental factors. My personal anxieties coming from environments such as unfamiliar places, people, sounds and smells become familiar to me as time goes and then these leave yearning and then these become unfamiliar again. And this circulating emotion, 'Uncanny' is included in my artwork. ● 「Starry night」 expresses private spaces given by night and various emotions that are not able to be defined and described in the space. I've chosen analogue type for the expression which attempts to install electric bulbs in an objet to be expressed using back space of night by taking advantage of huge studio. There are 2 spaces in photographs. One is a space before electric bulbs of familiar landscape are installed and the other is a space after electric bulbs expressed by dispersing personal emotion are installed. Unified light from these two spaces generates a mysterious landscape. ● The night sky was sleeping unlike my anxiety and the sky was calm and more beautiful light is emitted in more dark space. Stars were more brightly shining and entities in nature were laid on such a delicate space. By expressing my anxiety on night sky, I take away emotions by myself and comforted. These actions generate time when I am completely focused on my minds. ■ LEEEUNYEOL
