신년기획전 『역사에 빛을 더하다』 ● 한 해가 지나며 나무의 나이테가 더해지듯이, 세상의 역사에 빛을 더하며 작가 정현숙이 현대적 감각으로 2012년 새해를 열었습니다. 그물망과 같은 직조, 원형의 반복 등 조형미를 추구해 오던 작가 정현숙은 이번 『역사에 빛을 더하다』展를 통해 화사한 질료로 화면 전체를 반복 확대하면서, 다양한 변화의 양상을 펼칩니다. ● 그녀의 작품 명제인 「before and after」가 말해주듯이, 패턴의 한결같음 속에 자리하는 현대적 감각의 재해석은 보는 이들로 하여금 과거와 현재를 환기시키며, 미래와 마주하는 세계로 이끌게 합니다. 흡사 역사와 호흡하는 현대인에게 탈(脫)현실적인 동기를 부여한다는 점에서 그 매력이 있지 않나 합니다.

The opening exhibition for 2012 :『The Gleaming of History』 ● In the up-coming exhibition called 『The Gleaming of History』 the renowned painter Hyun-suk Jeong will lead the audience through a journey to experience the modern history of art. The simple repetitive patterns of nacre arts grab the viewer's eyes while arousing curiosity and captivation. Furthermore, the consistent spreading of the radiant and gorgeous pigments across the whole canvas engulfs observers into an experience beyond imagination. ● 「Before and After」 epitomizes the identity of the Jeong's body of artistic work, in which the constant pattern and modernism simultaneously evoke a sense of the past and future with the audience. Moreover, her fascinating art piece provides a surreal experience to the privileged viewers and ignites the passion for dreams again. ● When the audience observes Jeong's works of art, they will literally encounter breath-taking glittering prismatic colors in full radiance, famously apparent in all her signature works.
