이도공간 異度空間 ● 인간은 특정한 장소, 상황 속에서 익명의 주인공이 되어 어떠한 흔적을 남기며 살아간다. 삶은 언제나 공간에 흔적을 남기며 그러한 공간은 그 자체로 지각되는 것이 아니라, 인간의 흔적을 통해서만 지각된다. 그렇기에 우리가 지각하는 공간은 여러 겹의 시간이 쌓인 흔적으로 만들어질 수 밖에 없고, 따라서 지각하는 주체에 따라 각각 다른 층위의 겹을 노출시키며, 오직 개인적으로만 경험된다. 개인적 경험에 대한 해석은 시대정신에 의해 좌우될 수 밖에 없지만 예술가들은 스스로 매개가 되어 모호하고 낯선 특수한 경험을 관객에게 드러낸다.

당연한 이야기지만 인간은 언제나 공간을 배경으로 존재하고 공간을 장소로 사용하며 공간을 특징 지으면서 삶을 이어나간다. 그리고 특정한 개인에게 특정한 공간은 다른 이들과 다른 유일한 어떤 것으로 다가 온다. 우리가 지각하는 세상과 공간은 문득 떠오르는 낯섦처럼 혹은 처음부터 익숙해 질 수 없는 세상과 나 사이의 부조리처럼 가까이 다가갈 수 없는 뒤틀린 차원으로 층층이 분리되어 다가오기도 한다. 수많은 이미지로 구성되는 세상은 마치 영화 속 가상현실처럼 감각이 만들어내는 환영처럼 느껴지기도 한다. 과연 우리는 이 세상 속 어디쯤 서있는 것일까?

『이도공간』展은 우리가 사는 이 공간의 어느 지점/시점에 우리가 서있는지 질문하기 위해 기획되었다. 참여 작가들은 환영과도 같은 공간의 경험을 각자의 방식으로 해석하고 제시하여 세상에 대한 우리의 시선에 대해 질문한다. 결국 일상적으로 마주하는 삶의 공간을 다르게 느끼고 표현함으로써 우리가 삶을 이어가는 공간이 지닌 의미가 도대체 어디에서 연유하는지를 고민하고 그 답을 찾아보려 한다. ■ 서준호_장수종

As a mediator of deeper psyche, this exhibition is purposed to explore the surface of the alienated street city, which is seemingly trivial. Thus this exhibition aims to uncover the most fundamental aspects of human psyche in the city. ● The subject of alienation within notion of place is the core of this exhibition. The key issue of this exhibition is artists' ability to internal responds that evoked by external stimuli. So our strategy is built up the Heterotopia out of a continual succession of acts on adjustment in three phases; perception of space, manipulation of place and situated circumstance. ● To present extra ordinary transformation of the common place, we presented artists whose use various mediums across the wide range of representation format upon empirical research result. The major motives of all of our works in this exhibition are spirit of discovery that encourages the viewer to look afresh at their surrounded on unexpected event. Thus this exhibition support on invisible longing in such way that the object appear to retain the absent from provided presented moment and participated in constructing narratives. ● So works in this exhibition Manipulate the site for viewer to blindly confront the darker aspect of psychological nexus, which driven by the uncertain anxiety in process of rapid urbanization.
