동짓달의 초대

동짓달을 맞아 NEWS FROM NOWHERE에서 마련한 두 번째 세미나에 여러분을 초대합니다. 동지(冬至)는 1년 중 낮이 가장 짧고 밤이 가장 긴 날입니다. 예로부터 작은 설이라고도 하여 한 해를 마무리하고 새해를 준비하는 소중한 기간이기도 합니다. 동짓날 긴 밤을 지내고 새로운 아침을 맞이하는 자세로 현재의 예술과 문화, 그리고 사회에 대한 구태의연한 질서와 담론을 반성하고, 새로운 시대 예술의 사회적 기능과 역할을 논의해 보고자 합니다. ■

An 11th Month Invitation: A Time to Reflect You are invited to the second seminar of the News from Nowhere project in the 11th month of the lunar calendar. The winter solstice has the shortest amount of sunlight and the longest night of the year. Koreans traditionally consider the winter solstice as a smaller version of New Year's Day, when one year is finished and people prepare for a new year. By greeting a new morning after the long winter solstice night, we are planning to examine past and current art and culture and what is going on in society today, while also talking about the role of art in the future.

Initially proposed by two artists, MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho, the project will provide opportunities for artists and experts from diverse fields such as education, economics, politics, culture, and religion to join in and reflect upon the direction that contemporary art – and society as a whole – is taking, while hopefully suggesting a better vision for the future.
