하나의 오브제로서의 인간의 신체가 9인의 작가를 통해 각자의 접근방식으로 어떻게 표현 되는지에 관한 질문이다. 신체에 관한 두 가지 가능한 접근방식으로서 나누어진 본 기획전시는 나를 중심으로 이야기를 풀어가는 4인의 작업과 신체를 통해 본 현대인의 초상을 표현하고 있는 5인의 작업으로 구성된다.

PART I PERSONA ● 나를 치유하기 위한 방법으로 또 다른 나를 발견한다. 그리스어에서 그 어원을 찾아볼 수 있는 페르소나는 한 사람의 그림자와 같은 무의식의 열등한 인격이며 자아의 어두운 면이다. 자아가 겉으로 드러난 의식의 영역을 통해 외부 세계와 관계를 맺으면서 내면세계와 소통하는 주체라면 페르소나는 일종의 가면으로 집단 사회의 행동 규범 또는 역할을 수행한다. 첫번째 전시에서 보여지는 작업들은 작가가 자신의 가면을 벗고 자신의 모습을 찾아가는 과정이라 할 수 있다.

PART II Desired Bodies ● 본 전시의 두번째 부분으로서 Desired Bodies는 신체를 빌어 숨겨지고 때로는 드러나는 인간의 자의식에 관한 탐구의 결과물이다. 우리의 신체는 사회가 요구하는 기준에 맞추어 부단히 노력하고 그 속에서 상처 받고 있다. 사회적 장치 속에서, 사회적 동물로서 살아가고 있는 현대인의 이야기를 풀어 보면서 우리 사회의 신체에 관한 패러다임을 짚어보고자 한다. ■ 김선정

It is the question concerning how a human body as an object can be expressed by 9 artists in their own approaches. As divided into two possible approaches on the body, this special exposition consists of the works by 4 artists who weave their ways out with 'me' in the center and those of 5 artists who visualize the portraits of modern people reflected on the human bodies. PART I PERSONA ● Through a way to cure myself, I find another self. 'Persona', which dates back to the Greek word, in search of its etymological origin, is an inferior personality of unconsciousness as one's shadow as well as the dark side of the self. If one is an entity who communicates with the interior world in connection with the exterior world through the area of consciousness in which one's self is exposed, his persona acts as a code or function of conduct in the collective society, being a kind of disguise. The artworks displayed in the first exposition can be said to be the course in which he comes to find his real self by avoiding his disguise. PART II Desired Bodies ● Desired Bodies, the second part of this exposition, is a result of exploration into the self-consciousness of a human being, which hides itself or gets exposed in the form of a human body. Our bodies keep on striving to meet the socially required standard and suffering within it. We intend to point out the paradigm of human bodies in our society by telling the stories of modern people living as social animals in the framework of social device. ■ Sun-Jung Kim
