Objet O

전시제목인『objet o』오브제 오'는 Jacques Lacan라캉의 주요개념 중 'objet a'오브제 아' (타대상)를 참고한 것이다. 'o'오'는 ordinaire평범한 보통의, original독창적인 본래의, ouvert열린 열려있는 등의 의미를 생각했지만, 말 그대로 여러 가능성을 위해 열어놓기로 하고 앞 철자 'o'오'를 따서 정했다. 본인의 작업실에 있는 일상의 objet사물을 선택하지만 composition구성과 arrangement배열을 통해 새로운 이야기를 이끌어내길 기대했다.

작품은 두세 종류의 오브제로 구성된 Still-life photography정물 사진이다. 사물 간의 우연한 만남, 일부만 취하기, 유사한 형태나 크기의 순서대로 줄 세우기 등 약간의 시각적 강박이 작용하기도 한다. 작업을 전개하다 보니 그들이 만들어 내는 이야기는 새롭다기 보다는 본인의 생활패턴을 보여주거나 내밀한 기억에 관한 것이어서, 'mon journal'나의 일기'라는 제목을 염두에 두기도 했었다. 지나치게 주관적이고 사변적이거나, 단순하게 사물 제시에 그친다고 생각되는 작업들은 제외하고 13점 내외로 정리하였다. 무표정에서도 느껴지는 감성, 부족하지만 진심이 전해지는 작품이 되길 바란다. ● 사소할 수 있는 현실의 모습에서 본질을 발견해나가는 과정에 있다. ● 이번 갤러리룩스에서의『Objet O』展은 본인의 첫 번째 개인전시로 작품의 프레임 작업을 제외한 전 과정을 스스로 하며, 본격적인 사진작업으로의 가능성을 타진해보고 있는 만큼 비장하다고 하겠다. ■ 강옥주

As the exhibition title, 'Objet O' originated from 'objet a,' or objet petit-a, one of main concepts of Jacques Lacan. Here, 'O' is regarded as ordinaire, meaning common or ordinary, as original, meaning creative or original, and as ouvert, meaning open. Instead, being literally open to the possibility, it derives from the initial letter 'O'. Then, ordinary objets were selected from my studio and a new story was intended to draw according to composition and arrangement. ● This work is still-life photography composed of two or three types of objets. Moreover, visual obsession is sometimes applied such as an incidental meeting between objects, partial selection, lining up according to similar types or in order of size. During development of the work, stories made by such photos are not fresh but show my life pattern or private memory. For that reason, I have had the title, 'mon journal,' or 'my diary' in mind. Among these works, about 13 were selected, except those regarded so subjective and speculative, or regarded as simple presentation of objects. I hope my works will show the sincerity and the sensibility derived even from the absence of expression. ● They are in process of finding the essence from features of the reality that may look trivial. ● In Gallery Lux, this 『Objet O』 Exhibition is my first solo exhibition, accordingly I am prepared with a grim resolution that I've worked by myself except frame works, as well as measurement of the possibility of photo works. ■ Kang, Okjoo
