두산갤러리 뉴욕에서는 10월 13일 부터 11월 12일 까지 제니 조의 개인전 『 In Between; Through the Eyes of the Others 』를 개최한다. 이 전시에서 작가는 눈에 보이는 현상과 그 현상의 인식에 대한 관계를 탐구한다. ● 제니조는 그녀가 일상 생활에서 찾았던 단면들을 작가만의 시선으로 재 배치하고 재 구성한다. 작가의 작품이 전통적인 회화 방식을 따르는 뛰어난 시각적인 언어를 사용했다는 점은 놀라운 사실이지만 더 나아가 우리의 내면의 통찰을 통한 재현과 인식의 의미에 질문을 던진다. 단순히 눈에 보이는 대상이 아니라 주관적으로 인식된 대상을 재현해 냄으로써 In-Between은 보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것 사이에 존재하는 작가의 내밀한 경험과 감각을 표현한다. ● 미술사에서 시점에 관심을 가진 많은 거장들의 영향을 받은 제니조는 한발 더 나아가 보여지는 것과 우리에게 인식되는 것의 차이를 연결하고 있다. 작가의 다 시점은 내면의 혼동과 조화를 반영하고 인식된 것과 보여진 것의 연합을 보여준다. 제니조는 그녀 자신의 인식에 중점을 둔 개인적인 공간과 그녀만의 독특한 차원을 성공적으로 표출하였다. ● 제니조 (1985~)는 뉴욕대학교에서 회화를 전공했다. 가나아트 뉴욕 (2009, 뉴욕)에서 첫 개인전을 가졌고, 다수의 단체전 브룩클린 워터프론트 아트 콜로이션 (2008, 뉴욕), 시크릿 프로젝트 로봇 (2008, 뉴욕), 커먼스 갤러리(2008, 뉴욕), 커먼스 갤러리 (2007, 뉴욕)에 참가했다. ■ 두산갤러리 뉴욕

DOOSAN Gallery is pleased to announce Jenny Cho's solo exhibition, In Between: Through the Eyes of the Others. This exhibition features Cho's paintings and photo-reliefs, which reflect her ongoing investigation of the relationship between vision and perception. ● Cho's work involves rearranging and recomposing elements that are present in her daily life. She utilises traditional painting techniques yet maintains a distinct visual vocabulary. Cho challenges and questions the meaning of traditional representation by examining the influence of the internal upon our perception. By representing the perception of an object, not merely its visual attributes, Cho reveals the concept of an 'in between,' capturing the invisible within the visible. ● Inspired by pioneers of perspective from different moments in art history, Cho attempts to go one step further by bridging the gap between what is seen and what registers in our mind. Cho's multi-perspective view is a reflection of 'chaos with harmony,' depicting an intermingling of the seen and the perceived. Cho successfully captures a personal space that is based on her own perspectives to create a dimension that is uniquely her own. ● Jenny Cho was born in 1985 in Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from New York University Steinhardt School of Art and Art Professions. She had a solo exhibition at Gana Art Gallery (New York, 2009). Her works have also been part of the group exhibitions at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition (New York, 2008), Secret Project Robot, 2008 (New York, 2008), Commons Gallery (New York, 2007), Commons Gallery (New York, 2008).
