Seen City - 반영된 풍경

"Seen City" 시리즈의 작업은 ● 지금 이 순간, 바로 거기 우리들이 살아가고 있는 현실의 이야기이다. 넘치는 소비와 욕망의 과잉으로 감성과 이성을 잠식하는 도시와 낯선 시간을 사이에 둔 자연의 모습이 혼재된 거울 속 풍경… 그 앞에 서 있는 나와, 나와 마주선 생각의 편린들… 이러한 일련의 과정 속에서 내 작업이 시작되며 관객과의 소통도 바로 여기에서부터 시작된다. ■

나는 일상의 삶에서 가시적으로 보이는 것과 내부적으로 바라보는 것의 차이와 관계에 관심을 갖고 그로인해 전개되는 사고의 과정을 작품에 담아내기 위해 노력하고 있다. 애초에 모든 사건의 현상과 사고의 과정은 서로 다른 이해와 상황 속에서 발생하고 전개되어진다고 생각했기 때문에 다른 어떤 것보다도 개인의 시각과 생각의 흐름을 관찰하고 성찰하는데 주목하였고, 나의 시각과 생각의 필터를 거친 일상의 모습을 작품에 담아내기 시작했다. 먼저 시도한 것은 우리가 쉽게 바라봤던 도시의 쇼윈도우에 비친 낯선 도시의 풍경을 거울 속에 담아내기 시작했고, 사람들의 소소한 일상의 풍경을 표현하기도 했었다. 이번 전시에 보여 지는 Reflected Landscape(반영된 풍경)은 가시적으로 보이는 것을 넘어 내부적으로 바라보는 심상을 유도한다는 맥락에서는 변함이 없지만 지난 작업들에 비하면 현실을 관조하는 내면의 풍경에 훨씬 더 가까워진 표현이다. 역사와 전통, 과학과 문명, 자연 환경이 함께 어우러진 도시의 가시적인 현실 풍경을 바라보고 선별적으로 조합하여 재현한 이번 거울작업이 이후 만나게 될 작품 앞의 시간과 공간을 담아내는 시각적인 자극을 넘어 현실의 삶에서 함께 호흡하고 살아가야하는 일상의 모든 것들의 체온이 담겨진 풍경이 되길 기대한다. ■ 김준기

Seen City – Reflected Landscape ● "Seen City" series of painting is about the story of the moment and the reality where we live now. Filled with an excess of consumption and desire, emotion and reason are undermined by a strange time between the city and placed on the natural beauty mixed picture in the mirror in front of me... that, think of me facing to fragments of my thoughts... My work begins in this process and communicates with the audience right from here.

Reflected Landscape ● As I am concerned about differences and relations between things that are looked as visible and things that are looking at an internal level, I persevere in my efforts to comprise the whole conceivable process which is unfolded from those interests. For having thought that phenomena of every occurrence and the process of consideration would be produced and spread out among diverse understanding and situations, I focused on making observation with reflection of views and flow of thoughts of individuals. These thoughts led me to put daily experiences through my own filters of thinking and point of view into works. The first attempt was to include unfamiliar landscape reflected on show window of the city that we have thought easily and then tried to express trivial daily life in mirrors. This exhibit, Reflected Landscape, still remains on its coherence that inducing mental images above visual things, however, it represents inner landscapes which meditate our reality more closely rather than the former works. At this time, mirror works have been reproduced by collectedly compounded history and tradition, science and civilization, and nature of visual scenery of reality. I expect these would be warm landscapes embracing temperatures of all things from daily life which should breathe and live together throughout real lives over the visualized irritations including time and space being in front of further works. ■ KIMJUNKI
