VICE VERSA: 刮目相對

바다에 땅이 생긴 것일까, 땅에 바다가 생긴 것일까? '느낀 것' 때문에 '생각하게 된 것'인가 아니면 '생각한 것' 때문에 '느끼게 된' 것인가? 심리와 논리의 이중구조. 모든 것은 심리에서 발원하여 논리로 귀결된 것이기도 하고, 선재(先在)하는 논리로 인해 느껴버린 것이기도 하다. 이미 경험적 바탕을 이룬 심리는 위장의 논리를 만들고, 견고한 논리는 설득의 힘으로 심리를 만들어낸다. ● 보는 것인가, 보여지는 것인가? 백남준 비디오작품의 역동성과 야요이쿠사마의 반복적 기법을 보여지는 것이라고 한다면, 하석준의 상호성(Interactivity)와 이승오의 쌓기(Stacking)기법은 보는 것이다. 역으로 하석준의 미디어 디스플레이와 이승오의 페러디 형식은 보여지는 것이며, 백남준의 선형(線形) 서사구조(Linear narrative)와 야요이쿠사마의 복제성(Reproductive)은 보는 것이다. ● 우연히 거울을 본 갓난아기의 존재적 인식은 보는 것에서 출발한다. '본' 거울에 '보여진' 모습에서 자아를 인식하는 것이다. '보는' 것을 통해 인식하게 된 '보여진' 자아. '보는'것이 '보여진' 것이고, '보여진' 것을 '보는' 것이다. 본 전시의 각기 다른 4인의 작품을 '보는' 관객은 작품에서 '보이는' 자신을 발견하게 된다. 수동적 시점과 피동적 시점의 병존을 경험하는 양가적 단계(Ambivalent Stage)를 인지하게 되는 것이다. ● 빛나는 일호지천( 一壺之天) 에 환한 천지(天地)가 있듯이. ■ 아트플럭스

Is the earth created on the ocean? Or is the ocean created on the earth? Is sensation based on perception? Or is perception based on sensation? It is a dual structure that consists of logical and psychological aspect. They rise psychologically and conclude in logical sense in order to be perceived by pre-existed logics. Logic disguises psyche, and vice versa. Psyche empowers logic, and vice versa. ● Is it to be seen? Or to see? The dynamics shown by Nam June Paik's video and the repetitive method from Yayoi Kusama's prints are to be seen while Seok-jun Ha's smart interactivity and Seung Oh Lee's diligent stacking are to see. On the other hand, Seok-jun Ha's media display and Seung Oh Lee's parody are to be seen, but Nam June Paik's linear narrative and Yayoi Kusama's reproductive are to see. ● It begins when an infant encounters his/her existence by looking him/herself in the mirror. The image of a seen motivates from an action of seeing, and vice versa. 『Vice Versa』 offers a discovery of the two-fold value throughout the viewer's reception. It is a psychoanalytic experience on ambivalent stage how passiveness and activeness get across. ■ ART FLUX
