작가가 오랜 기간 자신의 회화를 통해서 표현하고자 한 것은 바로 영혼의 언어이다. 예술과 자연의 실재 사이를 연결 지워주는 소통의 매체인 색종이 콜라쥬 작업으로 완벽하게 재현된 하늘과 구름들은 우주의 진리를 탐구하는 「생명의 문서 liber vitae」들로 가득한 책장의 모습과 대조되는데 이는 작가가 천착해온 주제인 감성과 이성의 융합으로 귀결되며 인간의 내면의 빛을 탐구하는 서정적 은유의 지표가 되고 있다. 또한 그의 예술적 에너지가 결집된 작품인 꽃은 우주와 생명의 상징으로 섬세한 구조의 단면들이 공간에서 조우하며 아름다운 심연의 공간을 창출해내고 있다. 이러한 작가의 정교한 관찰력과 아름다운 상상력은 시간과 관점의 다양화로 표출되며 하늘과 구름의 변화하는 모습들을 특유의 서사적인 방법으로 작품 전체가 하나의 단일한 형태로 환원되는 융합의 과정을 보여준다. 박윤경 작가의 대표적인 작업방식은 우주적 세계를 상징하는 책장의 모티프와 웅장한 자연의 리듬에서 생성되는 에너지들의 연관성과 역동성의 미학을 담아내는 하늘과의 융합이다. 작가는 1998년부터 책장그림을 깊이 연구하기 시작했다. 서민들의 생활이 깊숙이 반영된 조선시대의 민화 중 특히 책거리 그림에서 작품의 소재를 발견하였는데 이는 IMF사태로 어려워진 한국적 시대상황을 반영하는 예술가의 작업철학이었다. 이번 전시의 작품은 스펙터클한 자연적인 공간에 우주의 진리를 내포하고 있는 책장그림들이 융합되어있다. 작품에서의 책은 인간의 지식과 경험을 공유하는 실질적인 의미의 공간으로 존재함과 동시에 작가에게는 창조의 원리이자 진리를 내포 하고 있다. 그리고 박윤경의 예술적인 탐구영역으로 하나의 주제가 어떻게 다양하게 변주 될 수 있는지를 가능하게 한다. 푸른 하늘은 생명력을 상징하는 구름과 공기의 연관관계를 함축적으로 표현하고 있는데 이렇듯 작가는 인간의 이성과 자연의 감성으로 우주자연의 진리를 한 화면에 융합하여 시간을 초월한 인간의 정신이 강조된 작품과 회화론을 확립하고 있다. 책의 기본적인 속성인 이성과 더불어 자연이라는 우리의 가장 근본적이고 일상적인 경험과 평행을 이루며 감성적인 체험의 공간을 창조해내는 일련의 텍스트와 이미지의 융합은 예술작품의 지각에 대한 새로운 미학적 가치를 탄생시키고 있다.

이번 전시에서 박윤경은 절대적인 미의 구현을 추구하고 있다. 그의 작품에서 표현되는 시간의 편린들은 일종의 숭고의 이념으로 우주와 자연의 개념을 확장시킨다. 즉 시간의 경과나 길이를 물리적인 계측수단에 의하지 않고 주관적으로 파악하는 과정인 「시간지각 time perception」에 근거하여 시간의 흐름을 창문을 통해서 보고 있는 것과 같다고 인지되는 시간의 범위를 「시간의 창문 time window」이라고 하는데 작가 박윤경은 독일 함부르크 유학시절 하루의 시작을 오전 9시로 설정하여 오후 9시까지 한 시간 간격으로 창 너머로 보이는 하늘과 구름의 변화를 색종이를 사용하여 하늘의 모습을 표현하였다. 찰나적으로 변화하는 독일 하늘 위의 구름의 순간을 포착하기 위해서 하늘을 보면서 5분 정도의 짧은 시간에 색종이를 가위로 잘라서 형태를 만들어 놓고는 나중에 붙이는 방법을 선택하였으며 작가는 하늘의 모양을 콜라쥬 하는 과정에서 실재의 정확성을 기하기 위하여 촬영해둔 사진작업과 대조하면서 색종이를 붙였다고 그는 작가노트에서 언급하고 있다. 이러한 자연에 대한 섬세한 관찰과 진지함으로 창조된 박윤경의 조형언어는 극대화된 의미전달과 함께 정서적 울림의 진동효과를 우리에게 심도 있게 부여하고 있으며 예술가적 자의식이 투영된 그의 작품들은 이미 독일에서도 상당한 호평을 받은 바 있다.

Convergence _ Aesthetic Metaphor for Existence and Time ● Artist Park Yoon-Kyung's artistic speculation aims at the convergence of art works motivated by rational expressions and emotional works that maximize spatial effects by varying the noble beauty of nature with continuous spectrums of time. The way of presence of surprisingly emotional and sophisticated works that is inherent in the artist's inner world is restored on a canvas as spaces of colors and time of lights, the pure and beautiful plastic language that crosses the border of the conscious and the unconscious is a process to confirm the existential ego of hers, which let her contrary feelings coexist. Most of Park Yoon-Kyung's works to be introduced in this exhibition consist of various art works with dramatic changes in which solemnity of rational recognition and free emotions are incorporated. Based on sensitive eyes and insights, she has expanded the unique field of her artistic expressions. ● The fundamental origin of her world of art is expressed by sensitive brush touching that simplifies the shapes of objects and spaces, projecting the flow of multi-layered inner worlds. It is the formation of unique rhythms derived from the fundamental structure of universal energy, rather than the investigation of flowing and elegant lights. The expressions of skies and clouds that are dynamic yet sensitive bless the inherent flatness of the existing paintings with luster, create the perfect density and balance that give cubic effects, thereby showcasing her artistic excellence. The visual suspense of skies, which investigate the fundamental proposition of existence and extinction and vary according to the passage of time, and clouds that are projected on them shows the infinite perfection and serves as an object for mediation that constitutes the viewers' psychological present. The clouds, which are created by concentration of natural energy, are an important element that blunts or raises the energy. They go beyond momentary expressions of hazy images laying on the border of the real and the fictive and express variable images that let the viewers re-discover the traces and beauty of time that link the past and the present. ● For a long time, she has tried to express the language of soul through her paintings. The skies and clouds, which are reproduced by collage of colored papers that is a medium of communication between art and natural existence, are in contrast to the bookshelf that is full of Liber Vitae, which investigate the truth of the universe, and the contrast naturally follows the convergence of emotion and reason, which are the subjects that she has scrutinized, serving as an indicator for a lyrical metaphor that inquires the light inside humans. And the flowers, where her artistic energy is concentrated, are the symbol of the universe and life and serve as a forum for the sections of sensitive structures to encounter with each other, creating beautiful and deep spaces. Her keen observation and fine imagination are expressed through the variation of times and views, and the image of variable skies and clouds that is developed by her unique narration shows the way of convergence that unifies all art works into one single shape. ● Artist Park Yoon-Kyung's art works are represented by the convergence of the motif of bookshelf, which symbolizes the universe, and the sky that shows the aesthetics of the relevance and dynamism among energies created from nature's magnificent rhythms. Park Yoon-Kyung has investigated paintings of bookshelves since 1998. She found materials for her art works from Chekulri paintings, one of folk paint genres in the Joseon Dynasty that reflect common people's life. That was her philosophy to reflect Korea's tough economic situations at the time of the IMF crisis. In her works for this exhibition, bookshelves are incorporated into spectacular spaces of nature. Books exist in her art works as a substantial space where human knowledge and experiences are shared, and at the same time these are the principle of creation to her, which implies the truth. And books also realize, as an area of artistic investigation of hers, how one theme can vary widely. The blue sky implicatively expresses the relationship between clouds and the air that symbolize the life force. With human's rationality and nature's emotions, Park Yoon-Kyung converged the truth of the universe and nature, establishing a painting theory and art works that show the timeless human spirit. The convergence of a series of texts and images, which are parallel to nature that is our most fundamental and ordinary experience and creates spaces for emotional experiences, together with books' basic attribute of rationality establishes a new aesthetic value for the recognition of art works. ● In this exhibition, Park Yoon-Kyung pursues the realization of the absolute beauty. The glimpses of time expressed in her works are a kind of dignified ideology, which expands the concept of the universe and nature. The 「time window」 refers to a scope of time that is recognized in a manner as if observing the passage of time through a window based on 「time perception」 a process to grasp the passage and length of time in a subjective way instead of physical measurements. Park Yoon-Kyung started a day at 9 a.m. and ended at 9 p.m. while studying in Hamburg. During a day, she captured and expressed changes in the sky and clouds seen through the window at one-hour intervals. To capture momentarily changing the clouds in German skies, she used to cut and shape colored papers within only five minutes and applied the cut papers later. During the collage work, according to her note, she applied the papers while referencing to photographs to ensure the accurate representation. Her formative language, created by sensitive observation of nature and sincerity, delivers maximized meanings and gives a vibration of deep feelings to use, and her art works to which her artisan egoism is projected already have been given a favorable reception in Germany. ● In her variegated art works, western artistic senses that she experienced during years of her study in Germany and Korean aesthetic senses are resolved, expressed and harmonized. Her art works, which display sensitivity and inner-depth, are transformed into various languages of art in which human life and art encounter with each other and purely visualized. Park Yoon-Kyung's artistic purpose includes psychological forms. Plastic forms that induce psychological expressions and structures are in collage in various images of nature, stimulating our imagination and curiosity. The duality and spiritual unity of nature in her works contributes to establishing a moment of wonder and peach, which is the ultimate goal of art. The working progress is particularly important in her works. It is because that her expressing of objects on a canvas is a temporal process that is linked with her flow of consciousness, rather than a process to visualize momentary images. In this aspect, her works are delicate and meditative. Park Yoon-Kyung, who has arrested people's attention through a number of private invitational exhibitions that showcased sensitive art works awed by nature, embodied a unique world of beauty with in-depth scene compositions that covers the boundary between art and nature.
