인터섹션 Intersection

opp color box tape들은 대량으로 완제품의 외향을 지닌체 판매되지만, 그 자체로는 의미가 없다. 이것들은 일반적으로 물건을 포장하거나 묶거나 보호하는 역할을 담당하곤 한다. 간편하게, 임시고정용으로, 빨리빨리, 후딱후딱, 그때그때, 여기저기서 쓰이곤 하는 이 재료에 대한 사람들의 태도들은 학습이 아닌 생활에서 무수한 진화를 거듭하여 지니게 된 다양한 용도로 쓰이고 있다. 언제나 생활변두리에 머물면서 사람과 사람을, 물건과 사람을, 생각과 관계를 연결하는 가교역할을 하는 사물로써 흔적이 아닌 생활방식에 기록이 되는 것을 기대하며 다양한 컬러의 교차로 '인터섹션(Intersection)' 이라는 프로젝트를 기획하게 되었다. 2004년부터 이 재료의 물성과 색채를 이용하여 평면, 설치 작업을 진행시켜가고 있다. 그러던 중 이 재료에 대한 사람들의 습관이 궁금해 졌고, 주변 환경에서 쓰이는 박스 테이프의 흔적을 기록하면 무엇이 보일까 궁금해졌다. 그리고 같은 컬러 내에 다양한 컬러가 존재한다는 것과 그것의 차이는 무엇일까 고민해 보게 되었다. 일반적인 컬러의 다양함을 하나에 박스테이프로 (인터섹션 프로젝트에서 제작된 테이프는 현재 생산되는 회사의 색상테이프 중 기존박스테이프 크기를 수집 후 변형하였다. 테이프를 생산 하는SAM HWA, MAX, TAPEX, SEI YOUNG, DUCKSUNG HITECH 등 5개 기업의 색상의 완제품 박스테이프를 모으고 1센티의 두께로 잘라 다시 혼합된 색 묶음의 랜덤색상테이프를 제작하였다.) 만들어 쓰게 된다면 이것으로 무엇을 할 수 있을까? 교차(cross-over), 융합(fusion), 유연성 있는(fuzzy), 잡종(hybrid)...

(6월)부터 현재까지 '인터섹션(Intersection)'전시를 위해 제작된 테이프들을 페이스북과 블로그(http://taping.egloos.com)을 통해 신청한 사람들에게 나누어주고 있으며 일상에서 어떤 용도로 사용되든 상관없이 그 기록들을 모으고 있다. 이번 통의동보안여관 "예술을 파는 구멍가게"에서 열리는 "인터섹션 프로젝트 샵" 에서는 랜덤 컬러박스테이프를 판매한다. 구입행위를 통해서 이 프로젝트에 참여할 수도 있다. ■ 김형관

The OPP color box tapes, as such, have no meaning, even though they are being sold having an appearance of the finished products by mass production. They generally play a role of packing, binding or protecting goods with them. These materials, which are used conveniently, speedy, promptly, anywhere and anytime whenever they are needed for a temporary/permanent fixation, are utilized for the various uses resulted from the evolution not by learning but in living. Hoping the OPP color box tapes would record in lifestyle, not just as traces but as matters which play a role of the bridge connecting people with people, things with people, and thoughts with relations, with always staying in living circumstances, I've planned the project of 'Intersection' by cross various colors with each other. ● I've done works of plane and installation, utilizing a property of matter and colors of these materials since 2004. In the meantime, recording the traces of the OPP color box tapes used in surrounding environment, I was curious about the people's habit to use them and about what would be showed in them. And I tried to find out that there exist various colors in a same color and to do their difference. If we put a general variety of colors into an OPP color box tape and use it, what we would do with it? Cross-over, fusion, fuzzy, hybrid... (The OPP color box tapes created for the Intersection Project are done after me collecting the existing OPP color box tapes produced currently by the companies and me modifying their sizes. I collected the OPP color box tapes of finished products made by the five companies such as SAM HWA, MAX, TAPEX, SEI YOUNG and DUCKSUNG HITECH, cut them into a thickness of 1 centimeter and created the random color tapes in mixed colors.) ● I've been giving the OPP color box tapes created for the exhibition of 'Intersection' since (June) to the people who apply for them through Facebook and blog(http://taping.egloos.com), and gathering the records of their uses no matter how they are used in daily life. At the "Intersection Project Shop" opened at a "Small Shop selling Arts" of TongEu-dong Boan Inn, random OPP color box tapes will be sold.
