음모론 - 摹倣者 ● 어차피 재현(再現)이라는 것은 무엇인가에 대한 모방일 것이다. 그 무엇이 특정 대상이나 사물 일 수도 있고 이미지나 심상이 될 수도 있겠지만, 어쨌든 '~으로 말미암음' 인 것이다. ● 자신은 무엇 때문에 스스로가 아닌 다른 존재를 열망 하는가? 변장 혹은 변신 혹은 재연 혹은 재현된 자신은 스스로가 주체인가? 아니면 타자인가? 일반적으로 자신이 아니라 다른 존재로의 변이는 대부분의 사람들이 느끼는 욕망일 것 이다. 드라마 보기, 영화 보기, 코스튬 플레이, 소꿉놀이 혹은 작품의 제작, 영화나 드라마의 제작, 연예인에 대한 갈망, 영웅의 탄생, 엄마가 되기, 어른이 되기 등. 우리는 항상 스스로가 지금의 상태나 상황을 벗어난 또 다른 상태로 변이하는 것을 꿈꾼다. 그것도 아주 다양한 상태로 변화하는... ● 이러한 열망은 결국 내가 '자신을 어떻게 생각을 하느냐'의 문제가 아니라 '다른 사람들이 나를 어떻게 보아주느냐'에 있는 문제 일 것이다. 마치 내일 친구의 결혼식을 가기 위해 멋지게 옷을 입은 다음 거울을 보고 있는 상황인 것이다.

-나는 지금 거울을 보고 있는 나를 보고 있다. - ● 사람이 무엇인가 보고 그리게 될 때, 우리는 대상을 보고 재빨리 종이나 캔버스에 옮겨 그리게 되는데 바로 이 순간에는 대상을 보고 있을 수 없다. 그리는 순간에는 자신의 머릿속의 이미지를 기억하면서 손을 움직이는 것이다. 이때 머릿속에 남은 이미지. 잔상들은 그림을 그리는 주체에 의해서 해석되고 변화되고 왜곡이 되어 진다. 그렇다면 결국은 대상과 같지 않고 오히려 작위적(作爲的)이게 될 것이다. 어차피 '진실이 아닌 진술'인 것이다. 결국 그 이미지는 그리는 주체의 숙련과 기술에 의해서 ~처럼 보이게 되는데 관객의 기억과 관념에 의해 그 그림이 진실과 닮거나 혹은 작가의 의지나 심상이 담겨진 이미지로 인식을 하게 될 것이다. (물론 작가의 의지나 심상이 이러한 '작위'의 한계를 벗어나는 중요한 역할을 하는 것이리라. 즉 '모방imitation'이 아닌 mimesis 혹은 reproduction이 가능케 한다.) ● 마치 '~처럼 보이기'를 바라는 작가의 마음은 그림에서 떠나가 있다. 뭐 특정한 용어를 빌려 쓴다면 외밀성(extimie)이라고 부를 수도 있겠는데, 나는 자신의 이미지가 규정되지 않고 바라보는 관객들에 의해 규정되기를 바란다. 물론 관객이 내리는 규정이 관객들 마다 다르게 생각하게 하는 것이 작가의 의도 일 것이다. ● 동시대에서 비슷한 문화와 정보와 관습을 가진 대다수의 관객들은 비슷한 추론을 하겠지만, 어쨌든 나는 실험을 하는 것이다.

-Children are often good mimics- ● 이 문장은 mimic 이라는 단어의 뜻을 찾다가 사전에서 알아낸 예문의 하나다. ● 규정을 짓는 순간 이미지는 고착화 된다. 살아 움직이는 생물이 아니라 죽은 사물이 되는 것이다. ● 이름 짓기, 분류 하기는 사람에게 지식을 쉽게 받아들이고 이해하고 구조화 시킬 수 있게 만들었지만, 반대로 그 대상이 더 이상 발전하거나 변화를 가질 수 없는 족쇄를 만들어 버렸다. 움직일 수 있는 틈이 사라진 것이다. 하지만, 사물과 이미지가 죽어버려서 더 이상의 상상을 할 수 없게 될지라도 분류나 이름 짓기를 하지 않을 수는 없다. ● 우리는 교육을 통해 많은 것의 이름을 알고 구별해 낼 수 있는 능력이 있다. 이러한 지식이 '죽은 아들 불알 만지기'가 되기 싫은 것은 대다수의 사람들 그리고 나의 마음이다. 그래서 나는 나만의 분류와 이름들을 상상한다. 내가 그것을 특정한 단어나 이미지로 보여주려는 의도를 가진 것이 아니라 관객들의 매개자[媒介者] 로서 존재하고 싶기 때문이다. ● 중학교 때에 같은 동네에 사는 친했던 고등학생 누나를 기억한다. 그런데 그 누나는 시력 무척 나쁜 사람이었다. 그래서 늘 콘택트렌즈나 안경에 의지하고 있었다. 어느 날 바람이 무척이나 불었던 봄날의 버스 정류장이었다. 나는 버스를 기다리다가 누나를 발견하고는 다가가 말을 걸려고 하였다. 그런데 갑자기 그녀가 달리기 시작했다. '귀여워~' 라고 소리를 지르며 달려가는 누나의 앞에는 바람에 날리는 하얀 비닐봉지가 있었다. 나중에 들은 이야기로는 누나는 그 하얀 봉지가 강아지인줄 알았던 것이다. 누나는 그날 콘택트렌즈도 안경도 착용하지 않은 상태였던 것이다. ■ 권정준

Conspiracy Theories - Imitator ● In any case, reproduction is an imitation of something. The something might be a specific object or image, but an imitation is something ' caused by ~'. ● Why is oneself aspiring to other existence other than one's self ? Is oneself, who is disguised, transformed, or reproduced, a main agent or the other? Generally, transition into other existence other than oneself might be most people's desire. ● We are always dreaming of ourselves changing into another state deviating from the present state or situation through watching dramas, watching movies, costume play, playing house, or production of work, production of films or dramas, longing for entertainers, birth of a hero, becoming a mother, and becoming an adult, etc., especially changes into greatly diverse states... ● Such an aspiration may not be the matter of "how I think about myself", but the matter of how others might look at me." It's just like the situation where I am looking myself in the mirror after being nicely dressed in order to attend my friend's wedding ceremony tomorrow. ● - I am looking myself who is looking myself now.- ● When a person happens to draw it after looking at something, we always sketch the object onto paper or canvas immediately, but at the very moment, we cannot see the object. That means we move our hand while memorizing the image that has formed in the head. ● The images remaining in the head at this moment- afterimages are interpreted, changed and distorted by the main agent who is drawing. If so, the drawing will be an artificial one other than the object itself after all. Whatever it may be, it's just a statement other than truth. After all, the image looks like ~by the main agent's proficiency and technique, which will be perceived as the resemblance of the very object or the image containing an author's will or imagery by viewers' memory and ideas. [ Of course, an author's will or imagery is presumed to play a great role in getting out of the limit of such 'artificiality'; in short, it makes it possible to do mimesis or reproduction other than imitation.] ● An author's mind wishing an object "to be seen as if ~" is away from drawing. Well, if a specific term should be borrowed, it can be called 'extimie'; nevertheless, this researcher wishes one's image could be defined by lookers-on who see it instead of being defined in advance. Of course, an author's intention will be that viewers' definition varies individually with their different thinking. ● A large number of viewers sharing similar culture, information and customs in the same period could make similar inferences, but this researcher is doing experiments for whatever reason. ● -Children are often good mimics- ● This sentence is one of the sample sentences I happened to discover in the dictionary while looking up the meaning of the word "mimic.' ● At the moment of giving a definition, image becomes permanent. That means it becomes a dead thing other than a living organism. Naming and classifying make people easily accept & understand a knowledge and makes easier its structuralization., but on the contrary, naming and classifying become the fetters that don't allow any more development or changes of an object. ● In other words, there disappeared the room for moving. However, even if it becomes impossible ● to do further imagination due to the extinction of a thing and image, it's impossible to do without classifying or naming. ● We have the ability to perceive the names of many things and to distinguish between them through the process of education. A large number of people's mind and mine are the same in that such a knowledge must not degraded into the state of the words "after death, to call the doctor." That's why I imagine the classification & names of my own. It's because I want to exist as a mediator of audiences, not because I have an intention of showing those using specific names or images. ● When I was at a junior high school, I remember my close senior high school girl who lived in my neighborhood.
