진화가면(進化假面) Evolution Mask

Be Dyed..(detai) ● 이념 대립의 냉전체제가 무너지고 정보화 시대의 도래와 함께 시공간의 거리가 좁혀지는 상황에서 이질적인 것 또는 낯선 타자와의 관계 맺기나 네크워킹이 중요한 시대적 과제로 등장하였다. '혼합양상'은 21세기 문화의 새로운 가능성으로 이해되고 있는데, 일례로 움베르토 에코(Umberto Eco)는 "다가오는 세기에는 갖가지 문화가 뒤섞인 '잡종적 혼합'이 될 것이다"라고 내다보았다. 세계화의 물결 속에서 더 이상 각 국가만의, 지역만의 고유한 문화를 발견하기란 쉽지가 않다. 이러한 전지구적인 체계는 이전에 뚜렷이 구분되던 지역간, 국가 간의 경계를 약화시키면서 다양한 문명권의 만남과 충돌을 야기 시킨다. 이러한 과정 속에 발생하는 현상 중의 하나가 '문화변용(文化變容)'이다. "둘 이상의 서로 다른 문화가 접촉하였을 때, 한쪽 또는 양쪽의 문화 형태에 변화가 일어나는 현상"을 뜻하는 이 말은 본인에게 정체성(正體性)에 대한 새로운 해석을 가능케 하는 중요한 화두가 된다. 이러한 혼성작용은 예술 장르 중심의 제도권 문화에 거슬러서 '탈 장르의 열린 문화'의 장을 구축하려 하며, 더 나아가 문화 차원에서의 '제3의 길'이라 불리고 있다. ■ 유의정

Building social network with other people makes an appearance as a crucial issue, when cold war of ideology conflict collapsed, and the arrival of information age which shortens presence of time and space. 'Mixture condition' is understood as a new potential in twenty first century; for example, Umberto Eco foresaw the culture will become mixed up with one and other. It becomes hard to find one's national or local distinct culture in the time of globalization. This universal system of cultural mixture will blur the distinct boundary of cultural differences amongst nations and will create collision cultures that are different. During this process, there is an interesting phenomenon called acculturation happens. Acculturation is the exchange of cultural features that results when groups of individuals having different cultures come into continuous first hand contact; the original cultural patterns of either or both groups may be changed, but the groups remain distinct. This idea works as a key for me to analyze my identity in whole new point of view. These composition action changes institutionalized art scene into more experimental and optimistic, and this action might called the third way. ■ Yoo Eui Jeong
