물은 답을 알고 있다 ● '물은 답을 알고 있다.' 물은 단지 반응할 뿐 아니라, 응답하고 자신의 혜안과 통찰을 제시한다. 물의 파동론으로 주목받고 있는 대안의학자인 에모투 마사루에 의하면, 물은 자신의 고유한 결정체와 파동의 변화를 통해 주어진 말이나 문자, 음악리듬에 각각 다르게 반응하고 답한다. 신비롭고 놀라운 사실이 아닐 수 없다. ● 마사루 박사의 실험결과를 따르면, 물은 각각 '힘'과 '무기력', '전쟁'과 '평화', '공존'과 '경쟁', '어머니의 손맛'과 '인스턴트식품', '물질과 돈' 같은 말들을 보여주었을 때, 각각 명백하게 구분되는 결정체를 띰으로써 자신의 '인식 가능성'을 입증했다. 물은 심지어 인간이, 특히 소유와 소비의 드라마에 매몰된 현대인이 인식하지 못하는 진실들 까지도 인식하고 있는 것이다. 물의 인식이 인간의 졸박한 그것을 상회하는 것이다! 인간이 치수(治水)하는 것이 아니라, 물이 치인(治人)하는 것이다. 인간이 스스로를 돌아보지 못한다면, 예외없이 물이 그렇게 하도록 할 것이며, 이는 예나 지금이나 변함없는 진실이다. 사람이 그렇게 하는 것이 아니라, 언제나 물이 사람을 살린다. 사람이 부단히 강과 바다를 오염시키는 동안에도, 물은 묵묵히 존재의 70%를 담보한다. "하나님의 영은 물 위에 움직이고 계셨다." 창세기 1장 2절의 내용이다. ● 지난 수년간 김 인호는 자신의 이미지 도구로 부단히 물, 정확히 하자면 수면(水面), 곧 '물 위'를 담아왔다. 그가 포착한 각각의 수면 위에는 주로 현란하고 화려한 조명들로 밝혀진 도시의 생태가 드리워져 있다. 파랑, 빨강, 노랑의 색들이 수면의 파동이 만들어낸 질서를 따라 요동한다. 부단히 흔들리는 수면의 질서를 따르는 동안, 밤의 도시는 형형색색의 굴곡들로 흩어졌다 모이기를 반복한다. 도시를 질료로 하는 수면의 드로잉들은 매력적인, 예기치 못했던 추상화들을 실현해낸다. 하지만 그 시지각적 매력은 우리를 부단히 인식론적 질문으로 안내하는 것에 의해 더욱 의미있는 것이 된다. ● 김인호의 수면 드로잉들은 거울처럼 이 시대의 '현란하고 화려한' 삶의 양식을 재현해내고 있다. 수면의 파동들은 침묵 가운데서 자신의 인식을 수행한다. 문제는 그 인식을 인식하는 어우리 자신이다. 우리는 수면의 인식을 인식하는가? 마사루 박사에 의하면 그렇게 할 수 있야만 한다. 그래야 이 시대에 만연한 분열과 증오의 문화를 수습하고, 파괴일로를 걷고 있는 우리의 생태계를 추스릴 수 있는 실마리라도 포착할 수 있기 때문이다. ● 김인호의 시선은 우리를 질문을 포함한 아름다움, 마냥 빠져들 수만은 없는 시지각적 매력으로 안내한다. 그것이 김인호의 이미지들을 대하는 미적 경험의 한축이 될 듯하다. 직업적인 작가는 아니더라도, 그의 사진들이 앞으로도 지속적으로 우리에게 예기치 않은 즐거움을 선사할 수 있게 되기를 바란다. ■ 심상용

Water has the answer ● 'Water has the answer.' Water not just makes a passive response but also actively replies and offers its perspective and insight. Masaru Emoto, a scholar of alterative medicine renowned for the mechanics of water waves says that water responds differently to the given words, characters or musical rhythms, respectively though its unique crystal and changes in wave, which is an amazing and mysterious fact. ● According to the study of Dr. Masaru, water is able to prove its cognitive abilities by taking a different crystal shape that is distinctly differentiated in response to a different set of words, including strength and weakness, co-existence and competition, taste of mom's recipe and instant food and materials and money. Water, in particular, is able to recognize truths that are not recognizable by modern people buried in the drama of possession and consumption. It is not exaggerating to say that the cognitive abilities of water surpass those of humans! It is water that governs humans instead of the other way around. Water will make us look back on ourselves unless we do so by ourselves, which has always been true without fail. It is always water that saves us, not the other way around. Water secures 70% of its existence even while humans continue to pollute rivers and oceans. Genesis 2:1 says "the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters". ● In-ho Kim has persistently depicted water or more specifically the surface of water in his works of art over the last few years. The surface water he has captured has the urban life decorated with splendid neon lights cast upon it. Colors of blue, red and yellow are rocking in accordance with the order set by the waves of water surface. While following the order of the water surface, the city of night is repeating the process of dispersion and gathering of all sorts of crooked irregularities. The drawing of the water surface with a city used as materials brings attractive and unanticipated abstract paintings into reality. However, the visual-perceptual attractiveness is gaining further meaningful insight as it guides us to the epistemological questions. ● The water surface drawings by In-ho Kim reproduce the dazzling and colorful life styles of our time just like a mirror. The waves of water surface conduct self-recognition amid silence. The problem is ourselves who recognize that recognition. Are we able to recognize the recognition of water surface? We should be able to, according to Dr. Masaru because that is how we will be able to straighten out the culture of division and hatred prevalent in our time and to catch even the clue to set in order our ecosystem bound for destruction . ● The sight of In-ho Kim leads us to the beauty that includes questions and irresistible visual-perceptual attractiveness, which is to become a pivotal axis of aesthetic experiences. I hope his pictures will continue to bring unanticipated pleasure to us in the future although he is not a professional photographer. ■ SHIMSANGYONG

水, 色으로 말하다 ● 우연 ● 어느 여름 밤, 강가에 섰다. 우연이었을까? 바람에 일렁이는 강물이, 문명이 만든 현란한 이미지와 함께 춤 추는 모습이 내 마음을 사로 잡았다. 그것은, 활화산보다도 뜨거웠고, 봄날의 꽃밭보다 아름다웠다. 그러기를 잠시, 강물은 깊은 사색으로 나를 인도하였고, 아직 펼치지 않은 내 꿈에게 말을 걸었다. 사람들은 잊기 위해서 강으로 간다고 한다. 그러나 나는 강에서, 내가 간직하고 있는 '꿈 너머 꿈'이 생생한 가능성으로 피어나는 것을 보았다. 필연 그리고 꿈 ● "본래 우연은 존재하지 않는 법"이라는 '데미안'의 한 구절처럼, 우연은 없고 필연만이 있을 뿐이라고 생각한다. 나의 갈망과 필연성이 내 마음의 뷰 파인더를 열게 하였고, 꿈에게 말을 걸게 한 것이다. 꿈을 꾸는 삶은 그 자체로도 아름답다. 타인의 가슴에 꿈의 불씨를 심어 줄 수 있는 사람의 삶은 더욱 아름답다. 나는 그 꿈을 위해서 살고 싶다. ● 2011년 봄날, 더불어 꿈 꿀 수 있는 만남에 감사하며... ■ 김인호

Water, speaking with colors ● Accidental ● Stood by the river one summer night. Was it accidental? I let myself get carried away by the river rocked by the winds overlapped with the splendid image born with civilizations. That was hotter than an active volcano and more beautiful than a bed of roses. In just a few minutes of getting a glimpse of the sight, The river led me deep down to the world of meditation while talking to my dreams that have yet to be unfolded. People say they go to the river to forget. But, right there, I saw my 'heartfelt dream' burning like fire into a vivid possibility. Karma and Dreams ● But as in the famous quote of Damien, "there is no such thing as accident', I believe the whole world is inevitably intertwined in the great circle of karma. My thirst and karma opened the viewfinder in my mind and spoke to my dreams. The life with dreams is beautiful in itself but the life with sparks hot enough to kindle a fire in someone else's heart is more beautiful. I would like to live for that dream. ● On one spring day in 2011 with appreciation for karma that binds us together for our dreams... ■ KIMINHO
