박승순의 '도시-이미지' ● 도시와 자연에 관한 주제를 단순화된 색, 선, 면의 형식으로 풀어내는 작가 박승순. 그녀의 작품 22점이 이번 개인전 『도시-이미지』를 통해 선보인다. 추상(抽象)과 구상(具象) 회화의 영역을 넘나들며 둘 모두를 아우르는 그녀의 작품 속에서, 선과 면의 병치·대비는 다양한 형상과 색감, 질감들을 만들어 내고, 2008년부터는 나무 패널들이 더해져 선, 면의 대비와 중첩의 효과를 한층 더 강조한다.

원색의 물감들은 강한 붓질의 형태로 드러나거나 색면(色面)으로 등장하기도 하고, 때로는 튜브 자체에서 직접 그림 위로 올려지거나 반대로 묽게 희석되어 퍼져 나가는 등 하나의 방식에 멈추지 않는 자유로운 색채의 유희를 드러낸다. 변화 있는 기법과 매체들이 사용된 화면 속에서, 도시의 건물과 거리, 자동차들과 행렬의 흐름은 사각형, 삼각형, 원형(圓形)과 같은 기하학적 형태들과 직선의 형상으로 등장하고, 그 속에 더해진 꽃과 구름, 곡선과 같은 자연의 형상물들은 도시 이미지들과의 조화로운 공존을 보여준다. ■ 김동현

Park, Seung-Soon's 'Urban-Image' ● Twenty-two paintings by Park, Seung-Soon (b.1954) are on view in this installation. Lines, planes and colors in her pictures produce a multitude of texture and hue, and deliver the images of buildings, houses, and lanes in the city, as well as flowers and clouds of nature. Since 2008, wood panels have been added on a picture to accentuate the visibility of lines and planes. Vivid colors of paints are often applied directly to the picture surface from the very tubes, or played with strong brush works, or sometimes they spread on the canvas like watercolors. Squares, triangles, and other geometrical shapes in colors construct the images of the city, cars and lanes, building blocks and streets, while flowers, clouds and curvy lines represent those of nature. ■ KIMDONGHYOUN
