이디오진크라시 (Idiosynkrasie) ● 독일어인 이디오진크라시를 우리식으로 풀이하면 '내안의 자연성' 정도로 해석할 수 있다. 이디오진크라시는 고도로 문명화된 현대인에게도 유일하게 남아 있는 원시적이고 동물적인 반응 양식으로서 외부의 위협에 대해 본능적으로 움직이는 말미잘의 촉수와 같은 무조건 반사이다. 인간에게서 이디오진크라시가 일어날 때는 생물학적인 원초 상태를 재현하고 신체의 부분들이 주체로부터 벗어나 주변세계와 미메시스되는 과정을 나타낸다고 한다.

이성의 진화와 함께 조직 된 거대 인간사회는 시간을 거듭할수록 풀어낼 수 없는 실타래처럼 뒤엉켜져만 간다. 더불어 문명의 발달은 종교와 전쟁, 자본 등의 여러 부산물을 쏟아 냈으며, 사회로부터 인간이 자신의 이디오진크라시를 억제하고 순응하며 살 수 밖에 없도록 강요하였다. 인간은 사회를 조직하고 문명을 만들었지만 언젠가부터 자신들이 낳은 사회로부터 지배를 받게 되었고 문명에 종속되어야만 살 수 있는 구조적 모순의 창조자가 된 것이다. 예컨대 종교나 자본 역시 자신들이 믿는 유일신이나 물질에 따라 맹목적 믿음과 지배구조를 통해 인간의 가치를 판단한다. 과거, 이러한 현상은 종교적 분쟁과 피지배계층을 나누는 계기가 되었고 현 시대에 이르기까지 제 3세계를 비롯한 여러 사회에서 대두되는 인간 소외의 발단적 원인을 가져왔다. 본인의 작업은 이러한 문제들을 모티프로 인간 고유의 이디오지크라시를 드러내는 과정이라 할 수 있다. 무릇 이디오진크라시가 고도로 발달된 현대 문명사회의 굴레로부터 벗어날 수 있는 인간의 작은 희망일지도 모른다는 생각과 함께 이 자리를 비롯하여 여러분께 보여드릴 수 있음에 감사의 글을 남긴다.

Idiosynkrasie ● Idiosynkrasie, a german word can be translated as 'true nature within me'. Idiosynkrasie is a way of primitive and animal-like reaction that still remains in the highly civilized, modern people. It is an unconditional reaction to the external threat like tentacles of sea anemone moving instinctively. When idiosynkrasie is manifested in humans, it is said that they reproduce the biologically basic state and parts of the bodies become detached from the subject and engage in mimesis with the surrounding world. ● The gigantic human society, which was organized with the advancement of reason, entangles itself like a bunch of thread as time passes by. Along with that, the development of civilization produced a variety of byproducts such as religion, war and capital and humans were insisted by the society to restrain their idiosynkrasie and become subservient. Although humans organized the society and created civilization, from time unknown they were controled by the society they created, and produced structural contradiction that made them subservient to civilization. For instance, religion or capital evaluate human's value through blind faith and power structure according to the only God they believe or material. This phenomenon provided a cause for religious conflict and division between the ruling and ruled class in the past and even now it plays a role as the source for human alienation that is emerging in a number of societies including the Third World. My artwork can be described as human's own idiosynkrasie with these problem as a prime motive. Thinking that idiosynkrasie might be the small hope of humans that can free themselves from the highly developed modern civilization, I would like to express my appreciation to all those who have come to enjoy my artwork. When Human's idiosynkrasie becomes integrated with the social structure, humans and society will confront each other.
