작가는 화폭에 생동하는 생명력을 표현함과 동시에 죽음을 보여주고자 한다. 그녀는 캔버스에 표현한 식물과 새를 통해 고대인들의 믿음인, 이 세상을 창조한 자연과 신에 대해 표현한다. 식물은 삶의 촉매제로서의 역할을 하며 새들은 삶을 관장하는 권위자로서의 역할을 한다. 이 요소들은 주로 그녀의 무의식으로부터 시작되며, 가장 최근에는 'Mother earth' 에 대한 생각에서 비롯되었다. 그녀의 초기 작업은 생명을 창조하는, 강한 힘을 지닌 Woman's sexuality에 관한 내용이었다. 그녀의 페인팅 안에서 이 세상의 모든 것들은 자연의 자궁에서 태어나고 이름 붙여진다. 작가는 그 생명력을 표현하기위해 원시적이고 강한 에너지를 지닌 Aboriginal 작품에서 영향을 받은 수 백 개의 점으로 압축된 에너지를 표현하고자 한다. 임현희 작가는 Chelsea College of Art and Design, MA course 를 졸업하였으며 그녀의 작품은 작년, 런던에 널리 알려졌다. 그녀는 현재 서울과 런던을 오가며 작업을 하고 있다. ■ Gift 10 Vyner ST

Soft and tranquil, yet rich with intense and colourful detail; Honey Im's paintings have the effect of displacing viewers into an idyllic fantasy forest, saturated with fresh spring colours and dappled with melancholic light. At first glance her paintings can appear to be harmonious, but when engulfed by their large scale, one is confronted with a more complex display. From expressing a sense of full vitality Honey also brings a focus to the role of death. She characteristically uses the plants and birds to illustrate nature and goddesses as the acting elements of ancient belief systems, which created the world. With the plants acting as the catalysts for life and the birds fulfilling the more authoritative role of apprehending life. It is with these recurring components that she uses to explore unconscious thought and the feminine psyche, most recently surrounding the identity of 'Mother Earth'. Honey Im's initial starting point for painting was woman's sexuality, how its strongest power is to give life. In her paintings everything in the world is born and named by itself from the 'nature womb'. Influenced by the primitive strong energy of Aboriginal works, Honey aims to express the full vitality of the womb - compressing such energy in the many dots gathered in her paintings. Honey Im holds an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art & Design and her work has been widely circulated throughout London in the last year.
