투명한 표면 Transparent Surface

'투명함은 자신의 본질이 가장 드러나는 순간 자신의 모습을 잃어버린다.' ● 투명함을 자신의 주요한 속성으로 가지고 있는 유리는 근본적으로 모순적이고 역설적이다. 유리는 매우 약하지만 견고하고, 화려하게 아름다운 동시에 순식간에 피부를 깊숙이 파고들만큼 날카롭고 공격적이다. ● 나는 작업을 통해 개인적 사건이나 감수성 혹은 사회적 메시지 등을 다루기보다는 재료(유리)의  속성(물성) 자체를 미술의 형식으로 드러내는 작업을 해오고 있다. 이번 전시에서 다루는 주제는 '투명성'이다.  투명성(transparency)이라는 개념은 '너머 보이다'라는 어원의 즉물적 수준을 넘어선지 오래다. ● 이 작업을 하면서 기본적으로 전제한 것은 투명성을 '실제적'(S. Giedion), '현상적'(Robert Slutzky & Colin Rowe) '언어적' 투명성 이렇게 세 가지로 나누어 전개한다는 것이다.  유리를 통해 확장된 의미의 투명성을 만나는 계기가 되기를 바란다. ■ 신봉철

'Transparency disappears when it shows itself the most' ● Glass, which has transparency as a main feature is radically contradictory and paradoxical. It is very fragile but sturdy, beautiful but aggressive that it can cut skin into. ● I've been working which shows the features of glass as an art form. The subject of this exhibition is 'transparency'. Many scholars have been developed the meaning of transparency. so the concept 'transparency' is expanded and developed a lot. ● what I premised basically is to distinguish the transparency into literal, phenomenal, linguistic transparency. ■ Shin Bong Chull
