달빛 프리즘 Moonlight Prism

빛이 공기나 유리와 같은 서로 다른 매개를 통과해 그 경계면에서 굴절하며 수없는 파장을 일으키듯, 두 개의 광학적 평면인 밑판과 종이가 합일되고 또 분리되는 순간, 행동과 시간이라는 매개를 통해 의식의 흐름은 속도감 있게 그 경계를 넘어선다. 필연과 과거가 행동과 시간을 지나며 수없는 우연과 현재의 파장을 일으키는 것이다. 한 편의 흥미로운 즉흥시와 같은 장진의 그림에 스며있는 우연성은 언어의 상징성이 그렇듯 주관적 시뮬레이션의 창조적 기능을 반영한다.

장진은 순간과 현상의 동시성을 기반삼아 본질적인 불확정성에 원동력을 두고 절대적인 새로움을 창조한다. 과거와 현재의 공존을 의미하는 순간의 동시성은 과거의 기억을 저장하며 동시에 분해하고 인출하는 현재적인 시지각의 추상 형태로 드러난다. 또한 현상의 동시성은 균질화된 이미지의 근대적 기능과 동시에 불투명한 의식을 통한 투명한 무의식의 표현에 중점을 둔 유기체적 차원의 형태로 드러난다. 서로 완전히 독립적인 두 개의 인과가 교차하며 일어나는 사건과 같이 절대적인 필연과 우연의 일치와 동시성을 추구하는 것이다. ■ 정상희
