The surface of the water

나는 고요한 수면위로 떨어지는 물방울, 겹겹이 퍼져나가는 동심원의 물결들, 수많은 의미를 담으며 유유히 흘러가는 끝이 없는 물결, 고요한물 위에 펼쳐진 세상만물의 비춰진 모습들을 바라보며 명상에 잠기는 것을 즐긴다. 나에게 있어 수면은 외부세계와 내부세계를 잇는 경계선의 의미이며 매 시각마다 기억을 생성해내고 저장해가는 우리들의 감성의 심연을 향한 통로의 역할을 해준다. 자연의 숨겨진 정신을 반영하는 매개체로서의 물은 반영과 파장을 가지며 이를 통해 나르시즘적 요소와 생성과 소멸의 의미를 담는 등 우리 삶의 여정과도 많은 부분 닮아 있다. 기억의 입구로서의 물의 표면을 통해 물 속 깊이 녹아내린 자신의 잡고 싶은 기억과 시간, 또한 과거와 현재 미래를 잇는 공간으로써 물의 이미지를 표현 하고자 하였으며 우리 삶과의 공통분모를 찾고 싶었다. ■ 이지은

I take pleasure in contemplation, while viewing water drops falling down to a quiet surface, concentrically spreading waves, serenely flowing water with innumerable meanings, and all things reflected onto gentle water. For me, the water's surface is a border linking the internal and external worlds, a passageway toward our sensibilities, and an abyss saving and generating our memories at every moment. As a medium reflecting nature's concealed spirit, water has reflections and waves conveying the meaning of renewal and destruction, and Narcissistic elements. This is similar with our life journey. Through the water surface as an entrance of memories, I intend to represent water images as the memories and time melted down deep into water, and the space bridging the past, present, and future, trying to discover common denominators that can be shared with our lives. ■ LEEJEEEUN
